We are working on improving the site navigation, to make it easier to jump around and to integrate more content. To that end, we are doing a minor reorg of the site, to eliminate a top level category or two, and to clean up some categories that don't make sense. I have gotten input from all seven SuperMods before doing anything.
Yeah. Same reaction here. I don't feel like reading about Australia "gettin' up in there" vs. Engerlund in cricket. WR serves a purpose: to (theoretically) keep other boards clean...
Great, more subforms, making the site more irritating to navigate. And there's a League One board for England but no Championship board...
I don't see why the Premiership needs a 'news and analysis' subform, the original forum was practically dead anyway, this change is like cutting a grain of sand in half. It should be a rule that a forum must have an average of 30 threads posted to every day before it can be split up.
Previously I could jump directly into certain boards (like English Premiership clubs). Now I need to access another sub-board first.
Duh! I would like a slight reorginization...move Other Sports to the top, and drop Olympics to the bottom. Thanks
You think on thrusday they said, "Let's reorginize the board tomorrow?" Please, give them a few days. There are five complaints on here and they haven't addressed - and the only one that is really important is the Championship League. The others are mnore semantic.
You can't just have Premiership clubs in your mybigsoccer? Or do you mean individual clubs? I guess I do most of my navigating through mybigsoccer. I'll ask one of the PL supermods if they have ideas about this one. I wonder if Sports could be a forum and remove Other sports as a forum? We can talk later about tweaking things a bit.
You can still do so a couple of different ways: Subscribe to the forum. Use the "England" drop down menu across the top. Use the Forum Jump menu at the bottom. How did you used to do it? I don't see how the reorganization affected access, but maybe you click differently than I do.
Wtf does this mean? I'm presuming that they actually thoight throuigh the changes they made prior to making them and thus can provide a rationale for said changes. Is this too much to ask for?
Actually, nearly ten forums were ELIMINATED. the only place that had a major reorg was England, both at the request of the SM there and to bring it in line with every other category on the site: Country > League > Clubs > Club
It's always had this forum actually. Still there. Just removing clutter on the listings for the new navigation upgrade that's coming. I'm curious, what to you is an acceptable amount of time for us to "reply". Clearly 24 hours on a Sunday is unacceptable to you. When we make changes like this we typically have a rule to not reply, as typically 10 people freak out and 700,000 don't.
I presume you actually worked out a justification for the changes before implementing them so it would have taken as long as it took you to write this post - on a Sunday no less- to provide an answer. Asking for a rationale for what seems like a peculiar change (I notice that the women's rivalries is still "soccer related") isn't "freaking out", it's asking for information.
I could previously directly access the Man Utd board from the main page (one click). Now I need to access 'Premiership Clubs' first, therefore two clicks. Apologies for the confusion. I do not see the need in having the extra layer, as things were perfectly fine previously. If it is a need for everything to be uniform then okay but then surely the same should be done for the French and German sections?
the man u forum is one click away on every page- there is an england pull down in the header with man u listed
Good, good (although technically two clicks). Will no doubt take a while to get used to the new layout but considering I am whining and not offering any alternatives, I really have no further cause for complaint.
Sure, that could work. I'd rather have a parent forum and then a bunch of subs than the way it is now...give me a heads up before you do this so I can warn the regulars.
