Ehlert said the new stadium, on the northwest corner of State Avenue and 110th Street, would be affordable, family friendly. Tickets will range from $5 to $9.50; parking will be free.

The Wizards should jump on this...this is an ideal location for a SSS, which has been brought up before.

I really like the idea of a stadium in Northern KCK. Makes the most sense to me.

I also like the idea of having the stadium out by the Speedway. It is a high growth area, that will keep expanding over time. Having two stadiums close to the speedway will make it a complex of sorts. The bad thing is that it might further the perception of Soccer being Minor League. The good side to that though is a 22,000 seat SSS will surely dwarf the 4,500 seat baseball stadium.

Further upsides come by sharing construction/tax costs with another entity. Sucks that I'd have to drive a little further from Wichita, but I think that would be awesome to have a SSS in Kansas City.

It'd be the same distance from Wichita, if not closer.

I wonder where this proposal came from. My company had been doing some preliminary pricing on a similar stadium in Olathe.

Regardless of where it goes this is a good deal. They have two of these team in the St. Louis metro, one in St. Paul, MN and one or more in metro Chicago. It's a real alternative to the high prices of major leage baseball and you don't have to worry about strikes.

Imagine last Saturdays crowd in a 22,000 seat SSS. What a great atmosphere that would be.

Should have read the article first. It's the same group that was thinking of building in Olathe.

Now we've got to get someone moving on the SSS for WyCo. Maybe they could sell the land to an Indian tribe who could put up a casino next door to the SSS.

Heh... this thing is literally a 30 second drive from my house. I'm all for putting a SSS out there. ;)

Before we start talking about a stadium out there, think about how expensive land is there now. The baseball folks buddied up with a construction company who's working on a strip mall there, so they got a sweet deal, but who knows what's gonna be available in the next few years unless we jump on this right now. But I'd love to have one out there, it's perfect.

And about baseball... I was excited when the frontier league said they wanted to build a stadium in northern olathe, a few weeks back... but now I'm pumped, the northern league is a huge step up from the frontier league, it's gonna have a pretty nice stadium as well, and it's in a good location. I gaurantee you I will goto more minor league games than Royals games as long as Baseball is in the same situation years from now that it is today.

Ben & Matt, remember when I said this city was a baseball town at heart? This will be the proof. You'll watch this team become the St. Paul Saints of Kansas City.

I believe I read in the paper another team is still talking about moving a team to Olathe too.

Yeah, the Frontier league was talking about it, but given the circumstances, I would imagine that it's over for them. First off... they were looking for an owner and sites to build a stadium, and the Frontier league averages about 1,500 a game, vs. The northern league which averages about 4,500 a game and will 100% positively be playing in KCK June 2003.

I hope we can get both teams here, but it's doubtful.
