OK, I'm starting this thread to see if anyone on here is as masochistic as I am and still cheers for the Brewers after a decade of losing. I do believe our esteemed moderator is a fan, but who else is on here? Also, post anything that might give you the tiniest bit of hope, as this is the first year I've really had zero optimism for the season.
Good luck. I have been to one Brewer game in the past two years (and it was pretty much just an excuse to tailgate). But I did get to see them lose number 100 last year.
No clue. Would imagine so. Heard reports that the Brewers will be on par with the Indy Indians and all other AAA teams this year.
Living in indy I was depressed when the indians severed their alliance with the reds and got with the brewers, and after eeing about 20 games at the park lat year I can honestly tell ya, I didn't see much that was mlb ready down here on the farm either. It's a shame really. As far as glimmers of hope. You could hope that Ben Sheets returns to his 2001 form after that disasterous 2002.
He's with the Rockies this season. 28 HR, 82 RBI, 140 games, 185 Ks sounds about right. If he and Preston Wilson can make consistent contact, the Rox may have enough O to make a run at .500.
Re: Brewers Fans Unite! Try being a Tribe fan in 1989. At that point, they hadn't contended in 30 years, .500 was a great season, the stadium was awful (man I miss that place), and there was a 50/50 chance of relocation. Oh, and the farm system stunk, too. Wait a couple of years. If the front office know what it is doing, and I have my doubts about the Brewers, things will turn around.
Now, wait a minute. I live a good 4 or 5 hours away from Milwaukee, and I've been to as many games as you have at Miller Park? That's kind of wrong. At least you're within a couple of hours.
Before this past year/year and half, I spent all my time in Eau Claire or Minneapolis. So technically, there wasn't much of a difference!
In kind of a weird note, on flipping through the channels, I crossed a 50 Cent performance on MTV, and he was wearing old school Brewers gear. I now have a newfound respect for him.
He wasn't wearing a jersey, just a t shirt and jacket. Fabolous, though, wears a Yount light blue jersey in his video, along with the old ball and mitt logo hat with the yellow. Weird how this stuff is starting to pop up.
sorry brewer fans, but how exactly did sexon injure his neck while trying to put on a hat? that is amazing.
Scott, you're kidding aren't you? Or maybe not, it is the Brewers. This is added to cutting your foot while sleepwalking and a sore wrist from playing too much Nintendo for bizarre sports injuries. I'm sure there are others too.
I kid you not, he was tring to pull down his hat so he looked good in the team photo. Apparently his hat was a 6 5/8 but he wears a 7 5/8 and he hurt his neck and missed an intersquad game. Go brewers.
The compression of blood flow et al from trying to wear a hat an entire size too small can do that actually. Goes to show you how Fd up Bud Selig's team is that they can't even get the players hat sizes right.
*shakes head* At least this isn't as bad as the pitcher who dislocated his shoulder trying to rip a phone book in two a few years ago during spring training. He ended up missing nearly half the season, if I recall correctly. *sigh* What a team. Oh well, I have to remain loyal.
I knew Sexon was a practical joker but that's just sad. I got a small head (size 7) and the thought of trying to fit a 6 5/8 on my head is giving me a headache. Hang in there Michael.
A little note to all, his name is spelled Sexson. A couple years ago, someone posted on a Brewers message board that to appease protesting Moralists, the Brewers were now going to make him spell his name SECKSON on his jersey. Obviously, it was a joke, but darn funny.
Heard about the minor leaguer in the Brewers system from Nigeria. Passed away in a car accident back in his homeland. Sorry to hear of something like this. Here's the link: http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0304/1517951.html I dunno, it almost seems like there's supposed to be some sort of tragedy every year. Already had the Bechler kid on Baltimore pass away. Now this. I remember when Brian Cole got killed in a car accident couple years ago during spring training. He was one of the biggest prospects for a Mets farm system that wasn't known for talent.
