I think that the addition of Milton Reyes could be of great help for Dallas. Your team is clearly playing better, but with Reyes things will get much better. His health is an enigma. One day is listed as a sub, then he disappears. When he will be in the lineup?
I think he has been slightly injured and the left side has been the weaker side. If he can play there he should get an instant look otherwise move Salyer to the left or give Wagenfuhr a look. Changing two at once is dicey. There should aslo be some US Open Cup games coming up and every player should get minutes then.
He'll get some time right about the same time Ramon plays, which will be some time around Hades seeing a blue northner & the Rangers winning the penant. THANKS COACH!
The more appropriate question is when will he be released? Before July 1st is my guess, he simply hasn't earned any further look in Dallas. Leaving the game before it was over the other night may have been the last straw with CC. Buzz knows better but I don't think he is even a thought in terms of starting and could be relased.
Nah. According to GE, they are all squared away now. It's daddy who is the problem. They had a talk and all is good now. Time to move on.
I think you are confusing Milton Reyes with Ramon Nunez. Ramon was fined for leaving the field early, and is an outstanding young midfielder. He was on the verge of getting playing time until his recent flare up. Colin has said it was handled internally, but IMHO his not being included on the Col trip has got to play into it. Milton Reyes is the right back who used to play for DC. He has had a couple small injuries. This last week it was a thigh injury. He is also still coming back into full fitness and has not shown, to me anyway, the ability to play 90 minutes yet. He did miss all of preseason and spring training. He has been working in traning and is getting better. The way Slayer has played my read is that Philip will have to meltdown, or Reyes will have to TAKE the job. So far Reyes has not done that. Reyes is more offensive than Salyer, but is a bigger risk. I am betting that you won't see him with Gibbs out. Reyes would have a better chance with Gibss around to solidify the back.
Somehow I read a transition from Reyes to Nunez in the original post without Nunez even being mentioned...weird. Anyhoo, you suspect correctly. GE hinted at the watching party that the reason for Nunez staying in Dallas this weekend was because of the incident...I guess that was part of the "we've dealt with it".
Just wondering if 3rd Degree has any insight on why Wagenfuhr hasn't been given any field time. If he's healthy and playing well (someone's comment from the last reserves game) and if Gbandi isn't playing well then why not give him a chance? If he was that close to being a starter before he got hurt before the season, then there shouldn't be a question as to his ability to play at this level. I wouldn't think. A comment on another thread about his performance with Milwaukee in Portland. If I'm not mistaken that would have been his first full game back after being injured and looking at the timeframe, he would not have had really any chance to even know the guys on Milwaukee before playing with them. He can play several positions, I watched him be very effective at left mid (which isn't out of position for him), he also is very effective at central mid, but less so since he does well with space to run and create. I watched the game against the Rapids and thought that Wags would have run and work at least twice as much as Gbandi - who just appeared lazy and unwilling to work. Yes, I'm a fan of his and believe that he will make a positive impact on the Burn and probably surprise a lot of people with his abilities, his field sense, his creative abilities from the back and his work rate. He has the ability to raise the level of play of an entire team, just by his energy, his enthusiasm and his work rate. Anyway, I'm frustrated at not seeing Clarke be willing to give him a shot on the field.
SF2 - You need to add www.3rddegree.net to your daily reading. Wags had a pre-season injury (that's why he didn't start day 1) and has been re-habbing. CC has been working to get him playing time with the reserves and a lower division team in order to bring him back to match fitness for the full 90 minutes. CC believes in Wags - that's why he is a rostered player and not a developmental player - his lack of playing time is a result of injury, rehab, and getting back to a full 90.
My guess on why we still see Gbandi and not wags is related to the way Clarke tends to make change. Usually he gives a player a run of games to work in. He is not the kind that throws a guy out for one game and then yanks him. For example see Davis run in the middle followed by Talley's run in the middle. Not including injuries or US callup of course. In this case Behncke started the season at LB (it would have been wags baring the hammy)... then after about 4 games Gbandi was given a run. The same thing would happen if Wagenfuhr gets a shot, it won't be one game but several. Wags has been working back into it and getting back in shape. I think he is now, last week and this week, actually challegeing for the spot. Clarke even said something about Gbandi "Being pushed hard." But that is all just a guess. Part of the problem is Clarke doesn't answer questions like "player' X' has been bad, when does player 'Y' get a shot?" He tends to give you an answer like "well player X has this or that which was good, and he did blah blah which was not so good... player Y is doing this or that and is in consideration." Which is not very helpful frankly. IMHO I still don't think Gandi is back to his college health yet. He may never get back there again.
