I guess we need a new thread - first game against Udinese tomorrow! Let's start the way we finished last year - Forza Milan!!!
Shit half, and two lazy goals allowed by our defense. Need to bring Giroud and Leao needs to get a bit more creative.
I thought that the fact that we played very sloppy football with some players clearly still rusty (like Tomori and Leao) but still found 4 goals bodes VERY well for the season. Overall we didn't play well but still scored four times! Our players will get in tournament shape and things will improve from this. I'm actually getting very optimistic for the season. We didn't have flashy signings like Lukaku and Di Maria but we actually did improve over a squad that already won the Scudetto last season. With CDK we're having more speed in transition from midfield to offense. He can break things open so that if teams put 2 or 3 players to contain Rafa they'll be in trouble from CDK. It was nice to see that Brahim is actually contributing despite his position being threatened by the big CDK signing. I wish we played in the right wing rather than CAM. Rebic getting back to form is also great. Bennacer had a great game. My friends, we have reason for optimism. Not to forget, it's so nice to see the Scudetto on our jerseys! Go Milan!
Rust performance, but good enough for sure. A bit sloppy up front by the back half did well except for those two goals. Definitely optimistic
Yes, there is reason for optimism. We have always had trouble with Udinese with lots of draws against them, and today our guys actually made it look easy despite being sloppy and rusty. Our defense is way better than what they showed today, and will certainly go back to good form as the season goes on. Our midfield did well even without Tonali and he'll be back soon. Our offense was more creative today than what we were used to seeing last season. I know that we need to sign another center back and another midfielder for depth but I'm hopeful that Massara and Maldini will still get it done in the last three weeks of the window. I lament the fact that the RW problem hasn't been solved this window. But like I said, maybe if both the player and the coach realized that Brahim Diaz is a better right winger than a central attacking midfielder (a position that CDK is destined to own as a starter for the duration of the season as soon as he gets more game form and gets more used to Milan's system), Brahim could be permanently moved to the RW. Messias and Saelemaekers are not good enough for MIlan's RW. Brahim's assist today showed how highly effective he can be in the right wing. That's where he belongs, if he wants to remain important for the team after the CDK signing. Adli has played RW as a youth player. He could be an option for the position in certain games, instead of a striker. I hope that Pioli realizes that he does have some players with potential to resolve our chronic RW problem even if signings do not happen to fix the issue. We know that a true Right Winger signing won't happen before the January window so Pioli should get creative there.
Sloppy first half, but it looks like the second half was better. I was only able to watch the first few minutes of the 2nd half before the kids woke up this morning. It's good to see Rebic get on the score sheet twice. If he's back to his best, that will be a great thing. I bought my first new jersey since 2011 since this year's has the scudetto on it. Got it printed with 19 on the back and Theo's name for our 19th championship. That probably means he'll leave before the window closes...
rw, cm...and a another CB. the attack is stronger this season but overall we are weaker imo still haven't replaced frank the tank
Nice. My 2011 jersey is printed with a slightly growlier #8! I also recently had my 2008 home and 2009 away Maldini jerseys repaired. My wife had managed to launder my bwin logos off so I had a local tshirt shop reprint those logos so I'm allowed to wear them in public again.
The fact that everybody else that counts won too, took away part of the happiness of our first win. Inter almost faltered until the very last second of their game. Serie A starts with the top of the table showing 10 teams with wins, and consequently the bottom side with 10 teams with losses, no draws. I wonder if it's the first time that it happens.
OK, so it's the fourth time. "For the fourth time in the Serie A history, the first matchday of a season has ended without even a draw; previously in 1933/34, in 1934/35 and in 1971/72." But it's the first time that this happens with 20 teams.
Tonali and Ben will get overworked. The options behind them are average/ mediocre...and Krunic is out for a few weeks. Mind boggling, we have to beg Danish clubs for players. If only Paolo had a decent budget. Imagine if he had 100m to work with. Smh
