So I was just looking over the Milan page on UEFA.com, and I think that it's possible their second team could be a quarterfinalist. Imagine in the group with, say, Barca and Inter and Leverkusen, the following team:

    Milan II

    ------------Abbiati

    Helveg---Laursen----Roque Junior---Simic

    -------------Redondo

    ----Ambrosini--------Dalla Bona

    ------------Leonardo

    ----Inzaghi----------Tomasson

I know that the forwards are rotated more than the others, and have seen time on the 1st team, but most of the rest of these have barely played this year and yet they could make a very good team. This is not only taking out the starting 11 from most Milan days, but also subs like Serginho, Seedorf, Costacurta, and others who are getting significant minutes.

They should be able to enter this team in UEFA Cup or something!

Nah, that team isn't good enough in midfield or defence for a 1/4 final place.

    Juventus probably have a stronger 2nd 11.

Madrids second 11 is pretty crap I must say.

Arsenals I'm not sure, the one who beat Man U was almost a 2nd 11 though.

Arsenal's second 11? That a joke, they were missing Henry, Bergkamp, Ljungberg and Gilberto. Not all of them are even guarenteed starters. Milan have strength like no others.

Milan's second string is nothing special outside of the forwards. Even Tomasson is pretty average and Rivaldo is not very consistent.

The second 11 would get slaughterd in the champions league. Even the full team has only managed slim 1-0 wins.

slim 1 - 0 wins over Real Madrid and Dortmund are welcome anyday in my book.

Right, because Tomasson was only 4th top scorer at the World Cup and Rivaldo only won the Silver Boot and is a former World Player of the Year.

Not to mention the fact that Milan's second string is comprised entirely of internationals, one of which is a World Cup winner. And I take it you've never actually seen Fernando Redondo play - prior to injury he was the best defensive midfielder in Europe. The man almost singlehandedly manhandled Manchester United in the '00 CL quarterfinals.

We're talking about club football not World Cup achievements, otherwise Henry and Trezeguet would be in trouble.

Tomasson is an okay player, but hardly in Henry or Trezeguets class. Rivaldo for Milan has done nothing outstanding either.

Redondo alone is not a second 11. I'd say Juventus' second 11 is stronger.

When will english people realize that Tomasson is not 20 years old and playing for Newcastle. STOP READING THE SUN

And Redondo is damn good- Man U is still wetting their beds!

Yes Tomasson is much better now (well he should be) but I still don't rate him as a top European striker.

Why is Inzaghi on the list? He's Milans main striker right now as Shevchenko can't hit a barn door at the moment.

Who plays with Tomasson upfront in this 11? Surely no one in the class of Di Viao, Trezeguet, Del Piero or Salas.
