We need experienced players getting meaningful minutes against top level competition, so the USMNT should definitely call up Mix Diskerud for the world cup.

I'm a bit concerned about Mix's hairline receding slightly.

Busted by whom? Busted for what? Cheated 3 years ago at age of 16 online in not FIDE rated tournaments with no prices. admitted that 3 years ago. Half of the grandmasters done the same, but were older, smarter and never admitted. Hans is a punk, Magnus full of shit. "How did he dare to beat me and brag about that? I'll destroy kid's life".

I haven't been following this closely, but just based on the few articles I've seen, it sounds like there are credible allegations far exceeding the scope of what you're suggesting here:

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/chess-cheating-hans-niemann-report-magnus-carlsen-11664911524

When world chess champion Magnus Carlsen last month suggested that American grandmaster Hans Moke Niemann was a cheater, the 19-year-old Niemann launched an impassioned defense. Niemann said he had cheated, but only at two points in his life, describing them as youthful indiscretions committed when he was 12 and 16 years old.

Now, however, an investigation into Niemann’s play—conducted by Chess.com, an online platform where many top players compete—has found the scope of his cheating to be far wider and longer-lasting than he publicly admitted.

The report, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, alleges that Niemann likely received illegal assistance in more than 100 online games, as recently as 2020. Those matches included contests in which prize money was on the line. The site uses a variety of cheating-detection tools, including analytics that compare moves to those recommended by chess engines, which are capable of beating even the greatest human players every time.

The report states that Niemann privately confessed to the allegations, and that he was subsequently banned from the site for a period of time.

The Chess Federation just reported that Niemann likely cheated over 100 times including in events with prize money AND he admitted it. It’s safe to label him a cheater.

Personally, I don’t think cheating in chess is as bad morally as physically hurting people. Although the method Hans reportedly used is disgusting.

Not Chess Federation, Chess.com which is controlled by Magnus.

How exactly does he control it? They may buy a separate service that Magnus Carlson does own, but he doesn’t own Chess.com. In any case Niemann is clearly a cheater and can’t be trusted.

    WSJ report:

“ The report also addresses the relationship during the saga between Carlsen and Chess.com, which is buying Carlsen’s “Play Magnus” app for nearly $83 million. The report says that while Carlsen’s actions at the Sinquefield Cup prompted them to reassess Niemann’s behavior, Carlsen “didn’t talk with, ask for, or directly influence Chess.com’s decisions at all.” Rensch had previously said that Chess.com had never shared a list of cheaters or the platform’s cheat detection algorithm with Carlsen.

Niemann, speaking at the Sinquefield Cup, shared his own views of Chess.com’s anti-cheating methods.

“They have the best cheat detection in the world,” he said.

Carlen is the face of Chess.com. Rensch is also promoting his "cheating algorithm" trying to force it on FIDE. An alliance of Chess.com and Magnus destroying chess. Magnus knew everything about Hans cheating at tage of 16 and had friendly relations with him, untill that game that Magnus lost and Hans was bragging about. A few days before the game https://www.google.com/search?q=mag...biw=1201&bih=541&dpr=1.6#imgrc=TtR8BkGNWu8osM
And not a single respected GM believes that Hans cheated against Magnus. Magnus just had a very poor game and wasn't able to deal with that.

Got it. Niemann is a cheater. Moving on, hopefully Mix and Omonia are able to get the result against United at Old Trafford.

I think that if any thread here should take a major diversion into high-stakes cheating at chess, it should be Mix's thread.

Nice fun game today for Omonia. Would have been so fun to hold on.

Mix might be able to tell us, if you can respond to his question from the previous page re: most morally despicable cheating in sports history!

But since that probably won’t happen, I would say, Acosta is playing in a higher standard domestic league, and has more bite to his game. Mix is a more natural goal scorer especially at the NT level, and served in a delicious set piece or two today against United. I’d say their range is about the same, maybe slight edge to Acosta. Mix’s burst over short distances looked pretty strong and his passing and touches were sharp. Don’t think the fairy tale call up will happen, but you never know. Karim Ansarifard, from Mix’s own club will be playing against the US at the WC for Iran.

Never been a good defender, Omonia isn't great, neither is the whole league. Compare him to Tillman if you need to.

    We lost.
But look at what happened at 37:25 => 37:30 in.
No Esfandiar Baharmast ussoccer type integrity, (WC Penalty Brazil-Norway-Flo), agree?

-- and we might have had yet another penalty as well (hand ball), if you, my friends, could have whistled.
But in all fairness, the more favorable teams usually get handed the more favorable decisions :(, right?

Preparing for the U-20 World Cup a looong time looong time ago, Ussoccer had invited Mr. Baharmast to come give us a lecture. And in all fairness, he did.
    Never forgot it.

    Afterthoughts -

    from I was 5y => 9y.
Spelling was hard back then, and sheet or cheat was probably not my focus. Until Lance.

I think we all played an honest game today. We play in a different league, of course (and with a smaller squad), but I experienced that the respect was mutual and reciprocal.

Tomorrow, I'll play my chess again. Today, the coaches got to.
(All of us unplugged, I hope)

Fortunately you lost, otherwise MU would accuse you of cheating. You ranked 300 positions below them.

Wall Street Journal, really? They are experts. The next one would be from "Good Housekeeping" or Pornhub.
"Report" is written by Magnus affiliated Chess.com. Hans is a punk, Magnus is cancer.
