I have followed Mix for a while. I have worked with him when he has been under contract, and when he has not been under contract.

My name is Inge A. Olsen. I have played with Mix, and later represented his employer.

I was never asked to write a letter of recommendation when his contract ended with Stabæk.

Last time I spoke with Mix, we touched on something besides our teams in Tippeligaen , which is what we usually discuss. We talked about rumors and negative comments. For years there have been false rumors about Mix and Stabæk, and I have several times asked him if he wanted me to get involved by making an exception to the the policy of not making comments to most rumors. But during this conversation, Mix replied that if I could say something nice about him, and post it on this bigsoccer forum, he would appreciate it.

I have by no means read everything regarding Mix on this forum. And frankly don't have the complete background on why he rates this forum the way he does.

Anyway, consider this my letter of recommendation. And as they say; To whom it might concern:

All obligations and promises Mix has given me and Stabæk he has kept. Not only that, he has constantly continued to help out me and my club every time he has been asked.

This goes for his family as well.

And it does not stop there.

I have seen no other player in Stabæk turn down such economic opportunities, and cut their salary so much, in order to help this club during difficult times. And this even after the fact it was proven that Stabæk had not honored the first contract between him and us. I have seen the verdict of "a proceeding" some years back. It says a lot about him. Also the respect he has for every part of this club, when he declines to hand it out to others.

There are of course things that our supporters and fans will never see or never know. And it is hard to criticize them for how they react when they have never seen the contracts, and never been in the room where handshakes have been given. When Rosenborg came to play Stabæk last time – we heard Judas, Judas, Judas every time Mix had the ball. The whole game through. I know it is football. But I didn't like it. And I can not tell you all the reasons why.

But I will tell you this much:

Mix worked with all parts of our organization when he was here.

He tried his best to increase our fan base, and we sent him more than any to kids and wife's birthdays and to potential sponsors.

We got cuts from his deals with new clubs we shouldn't otherwise been entitled to.

Without the recommendation and his convincing arguments we wouldn't have had Bob Bradley here as our coach.

He also asked his father to help the process with Bob along. Which he certainly did.

My job is to see potential in players. I don't yet know if I have seen in Norway anyone that has a greater.

His biggest strength is that he is calm when others are not. Therefore I probably get sooner upset than him when I hear read and hear what some people "on the outside" falsely express about him and his parents.

They are all included in the group we praise with having a "blue heart".

And I do hope more than I and the people in the boardroom are looking forward to the day we might see him return.

Could take a while, but I might still be around.

    I wish you all well.

And by the way. America – thanks for Bob.

It seems to me that the quality of a forum is largely based on the answers to two questions.
    1. How many people on the forum are worth interacting with and write posts worth reading?
    2. How few people on the forum are not worth interacting with and write posts not worth reading? Namely, spammers, trolls, and purveryors of nonsense.
When it comes to the second question, BigSoccer does a solid if unspectacular job. Spammers are nearly non-existent and are quickly dealt with when they arise; trolls are generally kept in check; but there are purveyors of nonsense aplenty.

What is exceptional about BigSoccer is the large quantity of people who are worth interacting with and whose posts are worth reading. Obviously one such person is @miklagard.

First off, you're welcome, Bob is our version of covering our debt for Mix playing for the US national team, and we are still well short of paying for that, but Bob is a good start.

Second, we appreciate you taking the time to post the letter of recommendation, but for most of us if not all of us who count ourselves as Yanks, it was not needed. We know all we need to know about Mix's character through his posts here and his on-field and off-field actions. But again we appreciate your input.

This thread is a fine example of why more professional athletes don't interact more with fans. I think for the most part we do a pretty good job of policing ourselves, out of respect and gratitude that a professional and a national team player interacts with us here, but on occassion ome of the trolls slips under the bridge on us.

It saddens me s to think some butt hurt supporter would come on here and slander Mix and his father. I suppose it is possible the attack did not rise to the level of slander, but it certainly gave a very negative spin to the story.

    To @miklagard ,

We the fans of the USMNT love you man. We are proud you represent our country in the sport of soccer. We really do not need any "letters of recommendation" to support you when others try and demean you. Some of us have followed you for years and you have always conducted yourself in an exemplarary manner.

You should rest confident knowing that we feel we know you well enough we will not judge you harshly based on the rantings of some anonymous poster. Most of us find you a loyal, honest, and decent young man with strong familial ties. You are also brave in that you are not afraid to speak your mind, even when you know ahead of time your opnion may not be popular. As an American I find that a noble trait.

The things you share here, reveal a side to us beyond the soccer player, and show us "the allergic to cats, taco bell loving young man" off on a vascation to tour this great country. A young man who stops in at a random pitch on occassion to train and share with the young people there the joys of the beautiful game. Mostly this is done without the self serving fan-fare and television coverage that others have arranged prior to their impromptu visits.

Mostly I personally never want you to feel like you need to call a friend for a character reference to me/us. If my daughter were not married you are the type of young man I would be proud to have come to my house to call on her. I can pay a man no higher compliment than that good sir, and it would take more than a post on Big Soccer to convince me otherwise having watched you from afar these many years.

On a lighter note have you found a partner to wear one of those suits with you? I have to tell you that wearing that suit in public may harm your reputation more than any anonymous poster ever can. Also beware of fashion police since I am sure that suit violates several laws concering what one should wear in public.

As much as I hate the club, there is a theme song that is apporpriate here:

When you walk through a storm
    Keep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At he end of the storm
    Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.

    Walk on through the wind,
    Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.Walk on, walk on
    With hope in your heart
    And you'll never walk alone,
    You'll never walk alone.

Mix, I have said it before and I'll say it again; you are the man! For us fans we jump at any chance we get to pick a usmnt players brain and to get a glimpse of what most of our (mine at least) dream life is like. Don't worry about any negative posters on here. We value every post you make. Not only do we look up to you but your so down to earth that you seem like you would be a great guy to go out and grab a beer with (after all we are the same age). In fact after the Mexico match in Columbus I may or may not have had a few too many and was yelling onto the pitch when you were taking the victory lap that I was from big soccer but it was to no avail haha

Anyways I'm kind of just rambling here and I don't really know what the point of this post is other than to tell you that we appreciate your contributions to this forum, and to not let a couple of rotten eggs spoil it for us. Keep grinding and you will be rewarded in Brazil!

Mix can do whatever he wants. It's his thread. It sort of a nostalgic thing for him.

As someone who just put down my season ticket deposit for NYCFC, let me say that I would be ecstatic to have Mix on the team. He's become one of my favorite players, and I think he'd be a mega hit with NYC fans.

How could anyone not like Mix? I still think we should use that creepy strange 80's song for a Mix song. Puttin on the Mix! The bands name is >>> TACO <<<! How perfect is that?

    Chorus:
If you're blue and dunno where to go to why don't you go to where goals fit.... PUTTIN ON THE MIX!
