With the next home game being a buck a brat night how about another pregame party at Mike's instead of an offical tailgate? Makes sense, and I know few people enjoyed the last event there. Should I see about getting the ball rolling on this?
Hey guys this is Flav... yeah we are gonna talk to Mike and the Miller Light guys today and i'm 90% sure that we can make that happen, either me or Kent will post something for sure either tonight or tomorrow morning. Go Romania.
if i didn't hear miller lite was a part of that the other week, i never would've known. what is it that they are doing?
Miller was giving out Tshirts and tags and they were running Miller lite specials. We just talked to Mike and we are good to go for this Saturday so spread the word. We kick it off at 2 o'clock there will be ESPN 2 on the Projector as well as FIFA 2004 on the Big Screen so let the games begin. Remember that tacos are one dollar each with (three basket tacos), he will run beer specials as well. Mike has also promised that if something like this keeps happining he is more than willing to try to go the extra mile and get HDNET or any soccer from around the world. He wants his bar to become the premier soccer bar in town and ofcourse as soccer fans we can make this happen. Thanks for the support Flav and Kent.
I just read somewhere that Miller and Molson might be merging. That'll be a pretty big company. Address of Mike's again for those who didn't make it last game?
Mike's Tavern 5424 Troost Ave. Kansas City, MO 64110 (816) 444-3399 Very close to the UMKC and Rockhurst University campuses.
Bring it! Oh, and turn on your damn cell phone next time we're on the road. I tried calling you Saturday after the game.
One of the painfully few places in our fair city that has a true understanding of how to pour a proper Long Island Tea. God bless Mike.
it really is amazing how sucky some places make them. i've never had one at mike's, but if it's $4 or under, i might give one a try. i'm not holding my breath though, at least not for one that cheap.
You shouldn't. A) Beacuse a proper one is worth every bit of $6 as it's roughly 3 beers at least. B)The last one I had at Mike's was late on a 2-for-1 night and I still paid $6 with a tip...but I enjoyed my drinks. C)If you are paying $4 for a LIT, then you are probably getting a foo-foo drink. Tips from a lifetime LIT drinker: *Long Beach Tea's are better for you (sub cranberry for coke). They are pink if made right, red if not, so be secure in your masculinity - you'll probably take crap for it. *Eat *Don't ever, ever, ever let anyone talk you into having a 6th one *Don't have the 5th if you're not used to drinking liquor *Don't have the 4th if bed isn't your next destination or if driving *Don't order a 2 for 1 if your drinking buddy has a habit of running into ex's he cheated on and says to you two minutes after you order at the bar, "Slam it Dave, we gotta go." *Get it at the bar not from the waitress. She might spill some, both wasting a good drink and getting it all over your glass, as it's a drink usually poured to the top. *If you really like LITs, as a caution just ask the bartender how he makes his. If he says, "I upend 5 bottles over ice in a tall glass and then top it with mix and coke.", you're good. If he says ANYTHING else keep asking questions until you hear the above or until he tells you somehow that the LITs suck in this hole. Then order a beer and don't tip on it. *Another tip would be to then watch him pour it. Bartenders know rookies don't order LITs so most will be accomodating with the booze hoping for a nice tip. If you know you will be having a more than one, tip for your first and last on the first one as it will usually help your pour for the second. *Water and aspirin before bed will greatly reduce the downside manana. -oot
8 is my maximum... and take my word for it, my friend behind the bar made them for me so they were far from weak. you see, i got spoiled when i was down at school. thursday night is "power hour" at remington's when for two hours all drinks are on the house. each drink for the rest of the night sets you back only a buck. good deal? word to that. the secret is having a nice kc strip steak after your third drink. it's like halftime, only it tastes good. as far as avoiding the hangover, i suggest substituting a hamburger totinos pizza for the aspirin. i'll give you a tip of my own. not many places have ever heard of it, but if you get someone who knows how to make a purple rain (and make it right), you'll feel like you've been cheated your whole life having to drink long islands.
i don't think that remington's exists at the adam's mark anymore. either way, i'm pretty sure it was in no way affiliated with the one i'm referring to. it's in springfield, mo. it's more like an entertainment complex... it has 4 bars inside it. free hours are from 6-7 and 9-10... $1 all other times.
i have also been to Remingtons in Springfield... it was an interesting experience... (isn't that the place where the drunk dude intentionally drove his car into a crowd of people leaving the place?)... as far as advice before going to bed, i suggest Vitamin B complex, 88.7% effective in relieving a hangover the following day.... and take it with a glass of water... a totinos never hurt either...
What time is everyone getting there and then leaving for the game? I think I might make an appearance at Mike's if I have time.
