Here in Washington, the NBC affiliate re-runs old Saturday Night Live episodes at 3AM or so on Sunday mornings. I just caught one with Mike Myers as guest host, and he did a "Scottish Hooligan" episode. Well, Mike had an Arsenal scarf on, and his "co-host" had on one from, er, that blue-and-white chicken outfit that Miss Prunella Face seems to prefer. Anybody got the skinny on this? Is it really Lorne Michaels that like the Gunners? Or was this just something that avoids the whole Celtic/Rangers ugliness? -G. Rex
Maybe one of his co-workers took the Arsenal scarf instead of the Liverpool scarf, because they didn't know which one is which LOL
Ha, what would be even funnier would be if they did a Super Fans skit for the Gooners. "Mini-Arsenal v. Mini-Manchester U." "Is Wegner mini?" "Nah, Wegner is full-sized." "Then the score would be Arsenal 15, Man U -1..." "Dennis Bergkamp vs. God in a game of golf?" "Trick question! Bergkamp IS God!!!" BTW, Mike Myers was born in Liverpool before moving to Toronto, I believe.
Justin Timberlake is a Man Yoo fan. Myers is a Liverpool fan. The guy out of Puddle of Mudd is a Kansas City Wizards fan :eek Bruce Arena is a Hartleppol fan (well he looks like a Monkey that's been hung.)
That reminds me, Hartlepol's Mayor is the Mascot of Hartlepol FC, D'Hangus the Monkey. England started having elected Mayors last year. His main policy was free banannas for schools.
Close, his parents were both born in Liverpool, but he was born in Toronto. Sensibly, he is a Liverpool fan
'Scottish' Hooligan? The Scots have been regulary voted the best fans in the World. There hasn't been trouble from them since the 70's. Mike Myers is just poking fun at the Scots, like he did with the creation of Fat Ba$tard. "Jesus Christ, this diaper's making me nutts rub together! It's gonna start a FIRE!"
That link says Osama bin Laden is an Gooner, and that he used to go to matches back in the early 90s? I thought he'd been living in western-exile since the late 80s though? If it's true, I guess it does add credence to that whole Finsburry Park-Terrorist hotbed thing. Anybody know if this is true??
It is rumored that UBL did attend Arsenal games in disguise and likes the Gunners due to their military name. No one has proof of this and it was probably started by some Spurs fans. There is a rumor as to his exact seat number.
Osama a gooner I have reposted this from http://www.red-geezer.co.uk/ Some of you might have seen the papers and the report that the world's most wanted man, Osama Bin Laden was a regular at Highbury in the early nineties where he used to sit over the Clock End with his son. A mate of mine reckons he remembers him. 'Tall bloke, beard like old wire wool. Kept singing, 'no-one like me, but I don't care.' And 'stand-up if you hate Zionist imperialism.' Stand by for the stealth bombing of Avenall Road.
Isn't there a mosque near Highbury where the head guy is an outspoken supporter of al qaeda? I heard they had a party on the 1st anniversary of 9/11.
There are many mosques in London. I think the one you are talking about is at Finsbury Park. I reckon Muslim is the 2nd biggest religion in the UK (at least in London) after Christianity because of the large Asian population. Oh and the UK's term of Asian means South Asian, not Chinese Asian (we just call them Chinese). he he... I forgot all about this pic! Here's a pic from the BBC website when this news came out sometime last year. I thought it was soooo funny that I had to save that pic on my pc! http://members.aol.com/fawcitt82/laden.jpg
Justin Timberlake is a Manc. That explains a lot. Wonder if Britney's a Gunner? Now THAT'S somebody we need to take on the next ArseAm trip! Vive le AFC! OPArsenal
SCOTTISH SOCCER HOOLIGAN WEEKLY It's a spoof like it's a show on ESPN2 or something, it's pretty funny. But not quite as funny as the skit: "Welcome to all things Scotland, where if it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!"
Dont you mean, "If it's nae Scotish, it's CRRRRRRRAP"? I know a chick with a bumper sticker that says that
That was a great sketch. I can't watch Austin Powers 2 without thinking of that. Has anybody seen the Theatre Talk sketch where he does the whole "I have no control over the volume of my voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!" bit? Dana Carvey does a mean Mickey Rooney, too. Vive le AFC! OPArsenal
Heard on Talksport radio today that Sarah Michel Gellar (sp?) is apparently a Gooner too. I know Spike Lee and Kevin Costner also are.
I worked at Urban Outfitters while i was living in dallas and this scottish woman would come in all the time. my best friend that worked there, who is a die hard liverpool fan so we'd always talk about football and never help customers by the way, always had this fantasy that he wanted to screw her. and right before she'd come she'd go "oh god oh god oh god IF IT'S NOT SCOTTISH IT'S CRAP!!" that was one of the funniest things he ever told me
