#usynt eligible '02 Malik Tillmann started at the 6, '01 Justin Butler came in at 58 minutes at the 9 and '01 Jalen Hawkins came in at the 72 on the wing. For RB Leipzig '01 Mike Grimm started at left back. Grimm has American heritage cc: @ussoccer_ynt https://t.co/8lUKoOVNZh— Joey (@USAprospects) June 6, 2018 Here's the tweet which briefly mentions it at the end.
Is "American heritage" one of those shorthand phrases for "It's complicated," as we've seen before? Meanwhile -- looks to be a regular for RB based on this data. These pages sometimes note dual citizenship, though this one does not. (That doesn't mean he doesn't have it.) https://www.dfb.de/datencenter/personen/mike-grimm/spieler Club roster page (he's on it): https://www.dierotenbullen.com/de/mannschaften/nachwuchs/u17.html This might be him on a FCN youth team a few years back. http://www.fcn.de/news/artikel/u11-ist-inoffizieller-deutscher-meister-2012/
USA Prospects left me a comment saying that Grimm wants to play for the US. He said there'd be a story soon.
(I Doesn't really answer my question -- it could still be "complicated" -- but I look forward to the story! (I don't have any information either way, for the record.)
I would think if anyone at US Soccer wanted to know if he's actually American they'd merely email Jesse Marsch to get the deets.
after being MIA for awhile he started the last 2 games. Played 73 minutes last matchday in a 2-0 win and 70 minutes yesterday in a 1-0 loss. but in all honesty, very unlikely to ever make it to RB's 1st team.
but tbh, not convinced he'll make the 1st team. Grimm seems to be able to play LB/RB. But Augsburg is already packed in LBs and RBs. They already have an RB 01 they rate part of the 1st team. And I have doubts about him making it as an LB even if he's U19 LB 1st choice. seems like someone who could still benefit from playing in RL in 2020-onwards. RB Leipizg has no II team.
started the last 5 consecutive games for Augsburg U19 only due to injury to another who is 1st team prospect and who got injured in Winter Camp.
For what it's worth, while Grimm is obviously listed on Augsburg's U19 roster, it doesn't note dual citizenship, though the club does so for other players, including Maurice Malone. Does that mean Grimm's necessarily not American? I suppose not, but ... well, make of it what you will. He does pop up in the Washington Post's roundups of American players overseas from time to time, so maybe they've checked it out.
scored the 3rd in a trashing 5-0 win over Hoffmann's Karlsruher. continues to start which is the most important thing given this is his last U19 season.
I know nothing about him but he could be very helpful if any of our opponents have any wesen on their team.
I noticed that some sites list a player of this name with Carroi, which I believe is in Andorra. No idea if this is the same guy, or if he's American. You're welcome!
I think it's probably some kind of error, now that I've had time to look into it. The one that matters to this thread is apparently still in Germany, currently with Feucht. He has at least one American teammate.
