Apparently, the British press is reporting an offer of somewhere near $4 million for the most misspelled Fire player since Jerzy Pobrodzny. Don't know how to classify it, since I suspect the Brits are more likely to run with rumors about its teams.

All I know is that if we had to lose Piotr and we still lose DMB, then I'll be pissed.

is DMB's contract over soon or will he have to be bought from the MLS? that brings me to this question, how do contracs work in the MLS? when drafted or bought from another league they sign a contract with the MLS and not the club? and wut if some club picks up some no name that no one knows about and makes them very good and sells them for millions, all the money goes to the MLS? it makes no sense to me. why is it like that?

his contract was, i believe, extended last season (he's rumored to make ~$200k)

if the offer is actually $4 million, i would think mls would be hard pressed to turn it down...

i guess it will be interesting to see what happens, but even if he goes, i won't mark it as the end of the world... while we have no allocations, we would still have 2 discoveries and plenty of roster space (asuming we lose dmb and hristo), and we can use 3 years worth of discovery money at once... so we won't be in the world's worst position to get a decent player or two to help fill the void

let's just hold and and see what happens

Plus, one would think we picked up Justin Mapp in part as a contingency plan for this very thing.

    It's Jerzy Podbrozny

  7. You can bet we would get an allocation for DMB. Moore, Friedel & Lewis all were cashed in for allocations.

L.A. got an allocation for Vanney which we used to sign Hong. Decent money for a key American player should lead to an allocation for Chicago.

Still seems like the number of Nats caps will work against this happening. I'd say you get to keep him for another year or two.

Superdave had an interesting suggestion on this subject. He proposed that Middlesborugh buy DMB now and loan him back to MLS/Fire until he gets the needed caps, then bring him over. There could be an agreement in the sale that he would have to finish any MLS season he started and the Fire would know that they would be getting an allocation at the end. Sort of the opposite of the LD situation. I'd say that it would be a great investment for the UK club so it won't happen.

I think you're understimating the number of Peter Novak references.

Yes, I know it's Peter Nowak...

As a Middlesbrough fan and a season ticket holder i have to say although DMB is a good player i really doubt he would fit into the current style of play

If it was Chris Henderson, I'd call it contingecy. But Justin's played all of what? 20 minutes in the MLS? 40? The boy has yet to prove he can play footy with men.
