I keep seeing all these articles about other MLS teams bringing in new players already. Dallas has the new South African, the Revs are looking at a couple of players, as are the Fire. The Metros have already done a bit as well. Since it's painfully obvious how much our side is hurting at the moment from players on NAT duty and injuries, why aren't we looking for a loan? It seems silly to sit on our butts and watch other teams make adjustments.

I'm no scout, so I couldn't recommend any moves, but somebody should at least be looking into things.

    Additional thought:

I would gladly become a full-time scout for the Crew if they would pay me around 45K and cover all my travel expenses... anyone hiring?

If our players are away on Nats team duty we still couldn't just bring in a player cause it would put us over our roster limit though, right? I think we'd have to do alot of shuffling around. I could be wrong.

That is my understanding as well. For the "98 WC, teams were given roster exemptions (ie: could add players b/c of guys who were in the WC and missing MLS matches). But not so for "02.

My understanding is that MLS has an IR rule that allows for limited replacements (for instance, when a GK goes down for 1 game) so you can temporarily call up someone to fill out the roster. But not when someone's gone for a month (or there-abouts).

So...to add another player (loan or acquisition) would mean having to create roster and cap space.
