What do Ian Plenderleith, Jimmy LaRoue, Mark Bushman, Craig Stouffer, Chris Webb, Mike Martin and John Dyson all have in common?

There are all now part of the same soccer team..

    Introducing www.mid-atlanticsoccer.com..

Unitedmania.com and OnTheSidelines.org have combined to give you the best fan coverage of D.C. United, National Team, A-League and all of your other favorite soccer teams..

You can now either go to www.matchnight.com or www.mid-atlanticsoccer.com to get all your news on your favorite team..

Look forward to hearing from you on this great new venture...

You can dress them up but can't take them out?

    :D

Good luck on the new site - at least now I can reduce the number of different sites I have to go to on a daily basis... :)

That's pretty much the idea behind it.. Why not get everyone under the same umbrella? Hell, we're all there talking to each other before games anyway..

This will be different however in that there still will be columns dedicated solely to United (mostly from Mike Martin and myself), but there will be post-game quotes, after game analysis and complete coverage of other interests as well..

Putting all of our eggs into one basket so to speak.. It may be overkill at times for United material, but more is better than less I always say..

Thanks for letting everyone know Chris.

When we started UnitedMania six years ago our goal was to provide an alternative news and info outlet about DC United and other teams in the area. Although our focus has mainly been DC United it was always our vision to provide info on other teams from the region.

With the addition of the team from onTheSidelines.org and the resources of the MatchNight News Network we are quickly reaching our goal.

The site name may have changed, but we will continue to work to make sure we provide you all with quality content and commentary.

BTW, you'll still be able to access the site at any of the urls's below:

    http://www.unitedmania.com
    http://www.unitedmania.net
    http://unitedmania.matchnight.com
    http://mid-atlantic.matchnight.com and
    http://www.mid-atlanticsoccer.com

Thank you all for visiting and motivating us to keep UnitedMania alive for so long - here's to another 6 years, and another, and another...

We're excited to be working with everyone from UnitedMania and MatchNight to enhance the soccer coverage throughout the region. Thanks to everyone who's supported OnTheSidelines through the last four years. It's always been my goal to do whatever I could to increase coverage of teams (and the quality of it) throughout the region, and joining forces with UnitedMania and MatchNight, in my mind, can only help in this endeavor.

Man, you guys ROCK! Best of wishes and you can bet I'll be checking in on a consistent basis for your outlooks. Damn it's great to be a futbol fan in DC :)

    Which makes me think...hmmm
Great fan support, great local media coverage, great local writers, great local businesses supporting futbol, great soccer show on the web/radio, great soccer show on tv (DC United en accion) the list goes on and on. But WHY NO SOCCER SPECIFIC STADIUM?

I'm gratified to see that they're still teaching the multiplication table in Fairfax County public schools.

Not sure what happened, but what the hell...

While the posting might have been excessive the thought remains the same :)

"Can it be done? Should it be done? It must be done"

I dug this up, b/c I was thinking:

    * We have such great online writers for DCU
    * Barra is thinking of how to recruit more latinos into the fold
    * The subway comute is long
    * How to drum-up excitement/hype b4 big games

How about a Print Edition of MASR? Similar to 90:00, but for the DCU area. Perhaps make it a quarterly? With english/spanish articles

    Perhaps do
    * In-depth coverage of DCU. I've never seen MU's magazine, but along...
    * Interviews w/coaches/players/fans/supporter groups/tail-gate stories
    * Small bits on WCQ from around the world.
    * On the local Latino/adult leagues? Local colleges? Rising prospects?
    * And just b/c its that kind of city on the Salvadorian/Bolivian leauges

Cool Graphics + The works. For spanish columns, I'm sure the spanish journalists wouldn't mind typing a thing or two. - I'll end this post with....

I will never frequent any site that lists the VCU Rams as one of the featured teams.

I can't speak for Jimmy Laroue (who basically runs the MASR website) but our regular jobs don't afford us the ability to do this though it would be cool to see..

I'm afraid for the time being that the website is the best we will get for the time being..

Still though, you will have Jimmy doing match reports and commentary from myself, Ian Plenderleith and Mike Martin all through the year.. Obviously with this being the off-season, not much United content is coming thru, but once the pre-season starts the machine will kick into full gear..

Thanks for pulling this thread up..

Hey, what's wrong with the Rams? They did great this year! Fun to watch, energetic, even managed to get a guy drafted this year (to the Fire, but you can't have it all). Nothing against the Spiders, but c'mon, the Craig Ziade thing is well over.

I dig the Kickers coverage there too. Your site is the best!!!
