I was just wondering what people thought of players like Brett Konley or Jordan Gruber, just curious if you think they could go anywhere. Konley has 8 g. 4 asi. in 12 games which isn't bad, and gruber has 6g. 4asi. I was just wondering cause this numbers compare to many of the youth players you have mentioned. By the way we just beat Michigan 2-1 yeah!!!!
I dunno. The trend is going away from college players. As the U20 world cup showed us college kids can't play very well against pros.
Even more telling - how is MSU doing against the conference powers? National powers? I noticed Ohio State recently beat MSU 3-1, and OSU have probably one or two players who might have a future in the pro game (Justin Cook and Peter Withers (1999 U-17 resident), and maybe Kevin Nugent, but the jury is still out on him). I'd guess that those two you named - without really knowing much about them - are not going to have a better shot at going pro, much less playing internationally at the youth level, than the slim chances those three OSU players have. JMHO. BTW, well done beating Michigan.
yeah i was just curious, we did pretty bad against IU, but they are a whole other level. We have flashes but who knows, i was just curious, i just remember reading that Brett Konely (MSU) and Ryan Mack (IU) both are from michigan, had trained with the u-20's in h.s. Kellen Kalso plays for state, he was on the U-17's, i don't think he's that great, but was just wondering how are players might rank. thanks.
wasdykec, I don't know how helpful this will be, but if any of your players are on PDL teams in the summertime that can be a useful barometer of their skill because they play with and against other "select" college talents outside the framework of their college programs. It also seems that MLS teams are using this as an important gauge of skill when rating players for the draft.
And just a friendly reminder to visit the college forum to discuss college teams. This one can stay (just barely) since it's in the context of whether the players are US team caliber.
