    Beakers and Tigs, MU/KU

Complete results and schedules can be obtained here:

    http://mutigers.collegesports.com/ot/border-war.html

Since I was so vocal about the 'Hawks' lack of an athletic department last year, I thought I would offer an olive branch to my KU friends with this year's results to date.

KU has a 4 point lead. There are still 7 points up for grabs in the regular season. In addition - Big XII baseball, softball, women's tennis, NCAA tournaments for these sports and golf may feature "bonus" points if both schools compete.

Everything could hinge on the May 14-16 hardball series in Lawerence. Good seats still available. Next up? Distaff golf this weekend.

Yeah, you might want to check the Big XII standings. Start at the bottom to find the yellow-bills, it'll save you some time.

    KU's big honor in '04? That's right, sub-NCAA, club-level Bowling Champions.

It's a proud time to be a Beaker. Blue wings on the rise... :p

Unfortunately it's true as KU holds the tiebreaker. There are only 2 points remaining because KU has had such a crappy baseball season that KU will not qualify for the Big 12 tournament to create an additional point. KU and KSU are the worst 2 teams of 10 in the Big 12.

MU Softball (still playing) finished ahead of KU Softball (eliminated today) at the Big 12 tournament for an additional point to offset the KU Baseball win (the first over MU since 2001, BTW)

Bottom line is that after the 30+ point demolition of the pitiful Jayhawks by the mighty Tigers in '03, KU has in fact eeked out a technicality; probably on a tiebreaker and the fact that they can't compete in the Big 12 BB tournament. Leave it to the Beakers to back door their way to a win.

To borrow a Topper-ism, MU will return to it's bitchmaker role in '05.

I would say those 4 bitch-slappings in football and basketball may have had something to do with it.

Leave it to MU fans to base such high expectations on nothing. I admire your optimism. Wait, by admire, I mean "laugh at".

2 things: First, nobody considers beating KU worthy of an expectation that would be considered as great as moderate, much less high. It's an absolute embarassment to be anywhere close to even with KU. As a Tiger, I am ashamed.

Second, my mistake, I forgot that blue wings are on the rise...

As far as I'm concerned you can give us a "30 point bitch slapping" any year as long as we win the only games that matter in the grand scheme of things, basketball and baseball. In no way is sweeping the four games that do matter this season "eeking" out a win.

And if you wanna talk about teams sucking so bad they don't qualify for a tournament.... wait no, MU did go to the NIT, nevermind. My bad.

Thank god it was just the Odem that left, if Quin leaves, I won't know what to do with myself. That man has been the best thing to happen to KU since Danny Manning.

The Border War was nice to see us win over the weekend, but I think this weekend was even bigger recruitment-wise as we might bag a trio of prime time players to beat the crap out of Mizzou for the next half-decade.

i used to be a huge mu basketball fan... then they hired quin. everyone was so pumped about it; i was not. from the moment i saw the hair that was going to be coaching the team i knew it was bad news. yes, that's exactly right... i disliked him not because of anything i'd ever seen him do, heard him do, or anything reasonable for that matter. i hated him because he had the nastiest mop on the top of his head. i just thought it didn't belong on the head of what was supposed to be a well-respected coaching position. well, that was awhile ago, and i've found many REAL reasons to dislike him as a coach now. i've also found myself almost rooting against mu so they'd fire him and get someone else in there, someone like bill self. all these allegations of ncaa violations don't surprise me in the least.

with that said, i may not care whether mu wins or loses in any sport anymore, but i will never... i will NEVER stop hating ku! everything about ku makes me sick... well, except the cheerleaders. they DO have some hot cheerleaders. but everything else can die and go to hell. :D

well you're going to hate us even more. A bunch of fans over at phog.net are pooling together money for billboard between I-70 and KC. Prices are a bit steep because of the competition with the porn billboards, but they have enough. Design yet to be finalized yet, but it'll be something along the lines of this...

    Okay, Kansas U. SUCKS!

Kansas State is where it's all at. We kill KU every year in football by 40+ points. And don't fire back with the whole basketball crap because football brings in more money to the school. Bad at football = crappy school.

If time itself began in 1993, this would be a very valid and well thought out post.

At least KSU was good at football for a decade. KU has traditionally sucked, and the 1995 year they were overated. How in the world were they a top 10 team when they lose to KSU by 50 pts.?

Actually, KU was quite all right during the 60s, and during a time in the 70s. KSU was *the worst* program in the history of D-I football, right up until the point where they got good. What Snyder has done is nothing short of a miracle. It only took turning the program into a glorified juco to get it done ("You know why they call it a community college? Because everybody in the community can get in there.")

Why am I reminded of Lenny Leonard (of Simpsons fame) whenever KSU comes up? "You only call us a cow college because it was founded by a cow."

If KU has traditionally sucked, how come they still hold a decided advantage over KSU in the all time series?

You can listen to Sam, Lucid and I rail on about Mizzou, but wouldn't you rather get it straight from Mizzou fans themselves?

I think Metallica wrote some lyrics once that express my true feelings with regards to the life of this thread. I think they go a little something like this:

Die, die, die-die-die, Die, die, die-die-die.
