    Sounds like it isn't serious:

"It was a tough game, stuck. We were at home and we wanted 3 points. Being without an audience is like playing on a neutral court. I had a discomfort in the back and I preferred to go out"

    Interview:

In the four years he has been in Ecuador, he has scored 27 goals in 127 games. He is very comfortable in Guayaquil City, but he does not hide his desire to return to his native country and one day play in Major League Soccer (MLS).

"I received interest from the MLS, but nothing concrete. It would be a dream to play in the United States and play in the MLS. I am enjoying the present, but it would be great to play in that league."

He's been telling me the same stuff. He really wants a deal in MLS. I am surprised nothing concrete has come for him. He doesn't even occupy an international spot

how far is this guy from a callup? playing for the champions of a south american soccer league has to be a pretty good level.

Barcelona, where he’s going, won the league and will play in Libertadores, but I don’t think his old club had continental play last year.

Barcelona’s transfermarkt value would be basically equal to the worst team in MLS, and about half the average team, and most teams in Ecuador would be clearly lower.

Does that mean anything? I have no idea.

But i think it’s pretty possible the Ecuadorian league isn’t anything special.
