@dark knight @bungadiri @TheFalseNine Let's update the thread title, please. Michael Hoyos at Barcelona SC (Ecuador)
Should be playing against Boca Juniors today: https://us.marca.com/claro/futbol/copa-libertadores/2021/05/03/6090598b268e3eb85e8b4616.html

I’ve been watching this game with one eye for the first 31 minutes now and I don’t feel like he’s even touched the ball. Playing on the right of midfield.
Yeah.. he only had 18 touches in 75 minutes. (12/15 passing, 1 shot on goal). Still, a 1-0 win over Boca Jrs is huge. Barcelona has a perfect 9 points from three games and is yet to concede a goal. Not an easy group either with Santos and Boca Jrs included

Interview: https://www.socceramerica.com/publi...n-michael-hoyos-on-his-copa-libertadores.html The car cash was nearly 10 years ago and it has been a slow process for Hoyos to get back on track from both the physical and mental toll it took. During that time, he became religious, married, had a family and was able to finally get past the challenges of having so much at such a young age – and losing nearly everything. The tough journey has now made him appreciate his life and career even more. “It's been a tough ride,” Hoyos said. “It happens to a lot of players, not only me. Everyone knows at a young age where I got to be. After the accident, I had to start over again. It was like a whole new start. To climb back and find my way and was really difficult. A point I think which changed my life was when I when I met God, and that gave me a peace and let me get rid of all my burdens that were really making me struggle, mentally. That moment has changed in my life -- not only in sports, all of my life and my family and everything. It feels it feels great to be here. It's always good to look back to see where one came from. ... I still have more to achieve.”
Barcelona played Boca Juniors to a 0-0 draw at La Bombonera. Hoyos made his 4th start and 5th appearance of the Copa Libertadoes group stage and Barcelona clinched a spot in the Round of 16. Assist to Michael Hoyos. This put Barcelona up 2-1 on Santos. They’re now up 3-1 and cruising to winning their group over Boca Juniors, Santos, & The Strongest pic.twitter.com/kJM4Zvz0f0— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) May 27, 2021
I think it's fair to say that in this year's Copa Libertadores, Barcelona de Ecuador won The Strongest group.

Came in to provide a critical assist. Sequence starts around 4:14: The match ended 1-1 and the series 3-3 with Barcelona winning on away goals.
Out with 2-3 month injury, missing the Copa semis: Michael Hoyos suffered an injury over last night in Barcelona de Guayaquil's 2-0 loss to Liga de Quito. Out 2-3 months, which means he'll miss his team's Copa Libertadores semifinal. Horrible luck for the LA native. https://t.co/ODFtGgl6IR— Arch Bell (@ArchBell) August 24, 2021
Won a preseason friendly tournament with LDU: https://www.primicias.ec/noticias/jugada/michael-hoyos-amistosos-pretemporada-confianza-liga/
Hoyos has moved to LDU Quito on loan through December 2022. Last chance to make a push for the WC Squad? https://www.transfermarkt.us/michael-hoyos/profil/spieler/138387
He's been simply hoping for an MLS team to buy him, and that hasn't even come to fruition. He would love to play in the United States.
Why doesn't any MLS team bite? I'm sure Miami, Montreal, Vancouver, or San Jose could use him. Probably don't want to pay his transfer fee though.
