5-6 seems awfully small for a centerback.

Not necessarily. Sometimes it's reported that a player has signed, but really it means that there is an agreement to officially register the player at the next transfer window. I don't think this tidbit should be taken as proof he has a second passport.

I’m not saying he does have a passport. While it is a possibility that must at least be brought up, I’m simply saying it’s most likely nothing is legal yet since he’s not 18 until next month.
So, we agree. It’s most likely he does not have a passport because, and I think you would agree with me here, he would already be over there and have been registered if he did.

    officially joined the U19,
    https://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/newsdetails/news-detail/detail/news/start-fuer-die-u19/

    Personnel at the U19
Injured are missing for the training kick-off on Thursday Tom Kinitz and Maximilian Janke. However, it is pleasing that there is a new entry from the USA with Michael Edwards. The defensive player is to further fuel the competition in the rear area and bring his strengths to the team in the future.

there is only 12 games in U19 left for the 2nd half of the season.

Training with the 1st team? This is the first time I've ever even heard of this guy, and I scroll through Yanks Abroad every day.

What a time to be alive when it seems like every week some new prospect pops up with a good Euro team.

What a time to be a fan, circa late 14 early 15 it was dreary around here. I was stuck watching Stoke and Sunderland (ugh). Then Pulisic, Mckennie, Sargent, Weah, Adams, Brooks, Wood, etc. so much to do.

Don’t remind me...gives me the shudders. That was before fox match pass, espn +, or BR live. It was rough out there you’d have to work 3x as hard to see it for nothing but table scraps.

Goes 90 in 2-0 win over Magdeburg. Wolfsburg are top of their division. Would like to see him called up to next U-20 camp in Spain

Wolfsburg U19 won the Nord/Nordost and thus will participate in the U19 championship run.

seems like the only American or German-American participating this season.

    Interview:

Stepping into a locker room where you don’t know any of your teammates, trying to win a starting spot, not to mention not speaking a word of the language, is a daunting task. But Edwards said his teammates were welcoming, offering him a spot to sit in the locker room and bringing him into conversations. While he’s been taking German classes, teammates helped translate for him when he was new to the country.

Only one game is left in the A-Junioren season, along with Cup games slated for the end of May. After that, he’ll get a few weeks off in the summer, and head back home to Woodbridge to spend some time with his family – his older brothers Max and Jordan play college soccer at Radford and George Mason respectively – unless he’s a late call-up to the U.S. U20 MNT World Cup squad, which is set to be announced later this week. Part of the Under-17 player pool, as a 2000, Edwards is eligible to play for the U.S. at this year’s U20 World Cup. It’s something of a longshot at this point, as he hasn’t earned a call-up to a U20 camp at any point this cycle.
