And the rumors are shot down: http://www.espn.com.mx/futbol/mexic...sconoce-el-interés-de-monterrey-sobre-bradley Monterrey has not contacted Toronto FC regarding the possible signing of US international Michael Bradley , said a source with knowledge of the situation Jeff Carlisle on ESPN .
I'm rooting for the ultimate lol scenario: TFC signs Pulisic, Bradley returns to Europe and gets playing time. The multiverse would collapse.
I'd take anyone coaching the US to the semis of the WC. I'd be fine with Hugh Dallas, John Terry, Chris Wondolowski or Rafa Marquez in that role. Hell, I'm be happy with Will Trapp in that role. Anyone. Just get the results.
The challenge with a new team taking Bradley is that he’s not a player you can drop into any team. He has to be built around given the deficiencies in his defensive game. I’m not sure how many teams would be willing to do that for a player on the downside of his career.
No-one is paying him the wages of his current contract. Mexico is probably the highest paying option available to him, unless someone stupidly gives him $1 million plus somewhere in MLS.
If he goes anywhere it is not to play. Maybe an assistant coach, license pending, or just to help give out oranges.
I thought he made $7m/year. He’s probably not worth a tenth of that. What does up-and-coming pomykal make?
Seriously, paying him that much was the most mind-boggling thing in MLS of the past 5/6 years. Probably making 1/50 of Bradley's wages.
He is 33 next season. Wouldn't the current deal have been expected to be the highest for most players. His next deal is more along the lines of his last contract (may not be, but best case scenario for him means he has five years left, and most common scenario means 2 or 3). On the overall value of Bradley to TFC though, he was a big part of the re-definition of the club as ambitious and aggressive and winners. That sort of thing has a lasting, positive impact. I mean, not my money, but TFC could afford it and they got trophies out of the deal, so he was worth $6m a year.
I recall Bradley being pissed or so Bob said that he was due to not given a lookout from Arsenal for the loan that Kallstrom got.
Before his foot problems, he could've been around the Arsenal squad. The Kallstrom loan was after those problems surfaced IIRC, so I think it would have been a pretty awful stint for him had it worked out.
He has moved into the coaching ranks overseas, continuing the Bradley family tradition of nepotism: Michael Bradley's next step is official: Michael has joined Stabæk as an assistant coach to his father Bob Bradley. “We look forward to getting to know Bob’s son better, who will join his father and contribute to the coaching team throughout the season," the club said. pic.twitter.com/TJFSc8sZ2b— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) October 23, 2023
