Although not a trained lip reader, I believe a noticed particularly dirty word yelled by Mia in the US-NGA match. For those of you who still have it on tape, check out the close-up of Mia at about 3:10 in the first half. You cannot hear her, but you can clearly see her lips. I do not really care, but I am just curious if any others out there came to the same conclusion I did.
I have no idea what Mia said, nor do I care to go back and check -- if she were a guy, would the subject of her language be remotely noteworthy?
She did do an s-bomb in a Freedom-Power game after she scored a 30-yard free kick. She couldn't believe it.
There was a great one in a friendly last spring. ... After a throw-in was given to the other team. Mia, exasperated, yells at the ref, "Oh, come on, Keri! Holy *#*#*#*#*#!" All on close up. L-o-n-g silence in the booth. It was great.
Does this really matter? Male players cuss all the time. So when female players do it, it's horrible? Lab, I saw that game, and I admit, it was kind of funny.
No. It does not matter one bit. I'm proud of our women who dream, strive, sweat, cuss, fight, and win.
LMAO...the best Mia 'foul language' moment was during a WUSA game against the Power. It was either the 1st or 2nd year...but anywho, the linesman really crapped up an offsides call and it resulted in a Power goal. So, Mia goes to take a corner, and the ref said something to her and she responded with "Don't *#*#*#*#ing tell me that! You cost us that goal." The announcer could only say "Well, she apparently wasn't happy with that call." However, Mia's potty mouth is NOTHING compared to Carla Overbeck's. Sheesh. Got a mouth on her that would make a sailor blush.
That occurred during the Freedom's last game of the 2001 season when they had to play in Anapolis, MD.
So the question is, who's got the filthiest mouth on the USWNT? We've all heard Mia, but I've heard of Millie being able to cuss with the best of them. I'm sure Foudy does her share but never gets caught. I seem to recall that a reporter visiting a Freedom practice this year wrote of witnessing language unbecoming of WUSA's target audience of little girls.
I was in Foxboro yesterday, and I don't know about Mia, but I was close enough to hear Christine Latham shout out some choice words when the ball did not go her way. Personally I loved it...
I was on the field last season when Nebraska played Florida. Latham was cussing the entire match, it was funny, but I was suprised the officials didn't give her a warning. It's not like you couldn't hear every word either.
