I really think the golf course site will not happen now. I am guessing the city (or at least someone at the city) knew about this was was trying to get them locked into the site to where they couldn't back out and had to pay for this clean up. This would be the 5th seriously considered failed site:
    1. Port
    2. Boat slip
    3. Next to Marlins stadium
    4. Overtown
    5. Golf Course

MOD NOTE: Stop trolling. Trashing cities, suggesting teams move, etc. It's not happening here. It's trolling.

yes, it is a big deal.
If someone wants to talk crap about a city, do it in your own city's forum.

I am not about to let someone go into another city's forum and say "this city is trash" or "they should just move this city's team". Not happening here.

NOT MOD NOTE: Miami Mayor on golf course arsenic levels... eh, it's cool.

Essentially, the condition of the toxic compounds on what will be their permanent stadium, on what is currently a golf course on what was once an incinerator doesn't matter since they'll just dispose of it anyway. Nonetheless... this is pretty off-putting, even though common sense argues the site would have nasty chemicals in the ground what with pesticides and herbicides used on the course and God knows what left over from the landfill.

No, that is not what he said at all.

He said that, monetarily speaking, the contamination levels are not that big a factor in the overall deal. And he's right.

They already knew there was contamination, hence the $35 million they had alreasy budgeted for clean up. That number increasing to $50 million is not really that significant when one considers that:
    1) Inter pays for it, not the city.
    2) While $15 mil is a lot of money, in the context of a deal involving hundreds of millions from Inter, $15 mil extra is not that big of a deal.

I assure you inter Miami don't feel the same way. $15 million is a lot of money.

Yeah, a public vote left STL $60M short. I said then that it wasn't enough to blow the project. $15M when looking at the numbers involved is small potatoes.

If the owners believe they will make money in Miami, $15M is not getting in the way of that.

You are wrong. Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas has already said they are going to pay it. It was planned all along to spend it and clean it.

They were planning to spend $35 million for clean up as stated. Now estimates are $50 million, so there is $15 million more than previously expected. He couldn't have been planning to spend this $15 million "all along" as it was just found out.

Sure is easy to spend other people's money. $15 million more than expected is still $15 million. I am sure they aren't just sneezing at that much money.

I'm sure they're not, but they aren't going to let it be a hiccup in their plans either.

Sure, no one wants to spend $15M, but it isn't going to change anyone's plans

Moving the goal posts here...I never said they would let it change their plans.
Just said it was a lot of money and even a lot of money to them. That is a fact.

    No moving the goal posts.

The very first post you first responded to was "2) While $15 mil is a lot of money, in the context of a deal involving hundreds of millions from Inter, $15 mil extra is not that big of a deal."

Everyone agrees that it's a lot of money, but it is insignificant to the deal or the amount of money involved.

I said that $15million is a lot of money just like you. That is all.
And he was wrong as he was talking about the oringial $35million. No comment had been made about the additional $15million. Yes I am sure they will pay it, but the Inter Miami owners had not addressed it yet. Only comments I have seen about it up to that point were by city officials.

$15 million is a lot of money, but not a deal breaker for this ownership group. Next topic...

New Lockhart Stadium is being built in a similar way to how @WhitecapsFC
Empire Field was. Hearing really good things about this arrangement and can’t wait for 2020 in our own home

That's not enough parking for even those soccer fields. Add the rest of the park and the Stadium and it's really bad. Hope there is enough nearby off the map.
