not so fast... http://soccer.nbcsports.com/2018/02/27/beckhams-mls-stadium-in-miami-hits-another-snag/
Hmmm… Four separate trademarks filed for "Miami Freedom Football Club." Filed by Miami Freedom, LLC. Anybody know of any ties here to Beckham's group? @jakenutting @SteveBernasconi @FriendlyFAUX #MLS #Miami pic.twitter.com/YFoOo3nqSE— Bill Reese (@ReeseCommaBill) May 22, 2018 Miami Freedom FC... Please no....
That would be a sigh of relief, maybe its for the womens team, shit i hope... Lets hope that is the case...wow so it sounds like a girls team?
The barnstorming Washington Freedom were bought and taken to Florida and turned into magicJack in Boca Raton... I hated that and am still not a fan of the Spirit as I was the Freedom.
"The attorney listed on the application is Thomas W. Brooke, a Washington, D.C.-based trademark attorney with Holland & Knight." "Jorge Mas said recently that a team name, logo and colors were in the works with firms in New York and London" Not sure if thats of any significance, but seems to imply its not the same group. Hopefully its not the name, but if it is. O well, Ive seen worse.Like copycat names, and KC Wiz, Atlanta United, Minnesota United, just for a few examples.
Yea, Just go back to rooting my club team back in Colombia... This team has to have the name and respect of the city, also a way better name than Orlando, how the hell we gonna go out with freedom vs City... Majority of Miami speaks spanish, reflect the city. Freedom is not reflective at all, I know plenty of people that live in this city, have degrees, make money and care about Miami, because its their new home, and they wont be able to pronounce that name, lol, if you choose to ignore that, your just leading a blind eye into what YOUR perception of Miami is..... Also F*$@ Orlando City
No snark intended….has ownership spoken about this publicly or is all the internet chatter based on the Miami Herald article? As far as I know its all as a result of the article. The only story that has any meaning right now are stories about a stadium. Everyone already knows this, but getting trademarks on team names is not a significant sign of anything. Interesting little story about trademarks and team names. Back in the late 80s a Tampa Businessman named Frank Morsani was the financial muscle in one of three local groups that put in a bid for an expansion team for a National League franchise. Morsani had all the trademarks/copyrights etc. on the name “Florida Panthers”. The National League had an initial round of evaluations and Morsani’s group was informed that they would not be selected. Wayne Huizenga then paid Morsani $10,000 for the rights to the name “Florida Panthers”. Of course Huizenga was awarded the franchise, but he opted not to call his baseball team the Florida Panthers. In the not too distant future the NHL awarded him an expansion franchise and that is where he used the name Florida Panthers.
Pretty informative update via Michelle Kaufman and the Pitch Invasion podcast: https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-tvpr2-948257 Possible coach, name and colors announcement coming as early as this month.
True but before it was just wishful thinking from fans. New and energized owner Jorge Mas is the one making these proclamations now.
David Beckham’s yet-to-be-named Miami Major League Soccer team is on the verge of hiring Atlanta United Vice President Paul McDonough as its General Manager. According to team sources, managing owner Jorge Mas spent Friday in final negotiations with McDonough, ironing out details of the contract. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mls/article215255525.html
I hate to see a winning team in Atlanta split up---however you cant fault Miami for going after the best personnel they can.
NEW: David Beckham’s group registers the following logos for Miami MLS. pic.twitter.com/zprtF0u9gd— Andy Slater (@AndySlater) August 15, 2018 Looks like it's going to be Inter Miami! Pink and black colors
yesssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and about damn time when Montreal was in D2 they had a black and pink 3rd kit and I absolutely loved it the owner is from Palermo (the original pink and black kit)
Really cool design possibilities are open with pink and black--i ask everyone not to rush to judgment and wait to see the kit designs. Miami could easily wind up having one of the classiest and easiest to identify uniforms in the league. That's how you do successful team branding. As far as the crest --the cranes are less stereotypical than a flamingo would have been and probably more correct to the real life wildlife you would run into walking along a wild stretch of beach along the coast or in the everglades.
