MLS is in the process of establishing their own MLS team, it is highly unlikely that Miami would support two professional teams. When it comes to direct head to head MLS vs NASL MLS will win every time, at this moment in time.
Come on, they said they would play at a world class facility, what else do we need? FIU or FAU? Didn't we already do Miami FC?
Yeah that article is funny. They try to position the leagues as competitors, but then in the same sentence reitterate that Miami FC has no interest in having an actual soccer stadium of their own and will instead rent a local stadium when they get around to it. Just don't see how this survives once the MLS team begins play.
Really weird. NASL must think that MLS Miami is never going to happen. Otherwise they are just setting themselves up for failure.
I don't see it happening either . Things have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years in regards to American soccer so who knows....
I guess this Silva guy is related to the company that used to have mls international tv rights. So there is that.
So everyone is making a big deal about the density of Florida NASL and MLS teams. If Hartford happens, you would have 5 teams within 3 hours of eachother. Granted Boston to New York is a huge market, but that is a pretty serious density. That could make for some interesting Open Cups.
