To borrow a little Ma Kelly from the movie Johnny Dangerously ... I am happy for Eddie and sad for Marcus.

    HT, 1-0.

A side note, Lewis with a lot of mentions in the text comm, taking a lot of PNE's corners.

Lewis getting really kicked about--yellow given to Reading defender for a foul on EL.

Marcus gets a card, 87', for dissent most likely.

Eddie off, 90'. Broomes, a defender, comes on to keep the lead.

It sounds like Eddie had a good day. The matchup against Marcus Hahneman reminds me of one of the best performances ever by a MLS player when Eddie score twice of Hahneman in a Quakes win over the Rapids -- a 25 yard blast from the left center channel after Eddie dribbled by a couple of defenders and a free kick from outside the box on the right side. If that is the scale, MH did a little better today.

According to the radio commentary, it was for obstruction of the opposition goalkeeper! MH went up for a corner at the other end, the Preston goalie caught the ball and tried to throw it out quickly, and Marcus blocked him illegally.

Hahnemann's yellow card is as Deadlock called it. I was wondering if anyone on here knew if he'd ever gone up for a corner before. I thought it might have something to do with being especially keen for an equaliser because his old team-mate Lewis was on the other side. (I've never seen a goalkeeper do this in a Football League game before.)

Anyway, when the corner came over Marcus was the nearest Reading player to the ball but the Preston keeper was easily able to take the catch. Instead of haring back up the other end, Marcus stood right in front of him, and then when the keeper tried to take a quick throw, put his arm in the air. To be honest I didn't think that he caught either the ball or the keeper's arm but I may have had a poor angle.

As far as the rest of the game goes, Marcus made one good save but his kicking was mostly poor.

Didn't really look out for Lewis but he certainly didn't grab my attention, something that other Preston players did.

This happens more in cup games, but didn't the Carlisle keeper score late in the final match some years back to keep them in the league and send Scarborough down?

That's a red for mine -I hate s*** like that.

Well, this is his first goal against for a month.Would you reckon it's due to him or was Reading well-organized defensively?

It was the little stockbroker lookalike running around hitting everything with his left foot. ;)

You're right about Jimmy Glass scoring for Carlisle from a corner in the last minute - I did say that I hadn't seen it before, and meant at games I had attended.

Marcus has today said that he was told to go up for the corner by manager Alan Pardew.

Thanks,Cube.I would be surprised to see that in an early league fixture myself.Pardew must have really felt Marcus could've got a header in there.

His kicking's normally good, he just has the occasional bad day. I doubt anyone in the league can kick a ball as far. I'm just waiting for us to get Arsenal in the cup and I'll stick a fiver on him scoring.
