So glad I got snowed in (no school) on the day when sign-ups start. Anyway, I've created a division, WizMFLS and the password is meola . Good luck to all.
Ben, started repeating this to yourself over and over, and the next 7 months of your life will be much less disappointing for you: "Second place is the first loser.. Second place is the first loser... Second place is the first loser..."
MtMike, Is there a reason for this one to be different from the original one you created WizMFLSFC located on this thread you started? Or is this intended to be another one or a replacement etc... Just curious... https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=36052
Different games. The first was the official MLS fantasy game through the Sporting News. This new one is for MFLS.com
You should see my team right now. Its full of nobodies, I just wanted to get my spot in case a lot of new people sign up this year. I hope the regulars are able to get in. And BTW, I did all my work the last two season only reading the internet and watching Wizards games. Now I've got MLS Shootout, can watch a ton more games, so you're dead with my gained knowledge.
Is there a preference in this forum which is better? If so do we want to have an official bigsoccer Wizards Forum competition or just manage multiple leagues. I for one would rather "officially" participate in one as I have to do these usually at work and if I manage more than one team I find myself doing too much personal surfing trying to build the best team based on the different points, salaries, and rule systems. By the way.... I also wouldn't be opposed to making it say... a little more interesting. $)
Andy: Right now I have an EPL team in premierleague (2 actually); deadlystrike; and yahoo. And I also have an MLS team in deadlystrike and an Italian seria A team there too. I also have teams in the UEFA Champs League and UEFA Cup. What's two more MLS leagues? Work IS for personal surfing Hardest part is remembering all the damn passwords. Mark
Wanna trade jobs then? At least the back of my monitor faces my office door. So I get 2-3 seconds to minimize before they can get around to see whats on my screen.
Last year a lot of people did both MFLS and the game on MLSnet.com. I for one created my one on MLSnet and left it not paying much attention. From my point of view MFLS is where people pay the most attention and where the most trash is talked. Mike: From what I've heard its easier to run the Cup this year and you can actually do it on the MFLS site? Details???
Ben, MFLS has created a forum for each division (look at the second to last tab to the right on the top of your page.) Click on Forums, and there will be a general MFLS one, and one for our division. Much easier. They don't provide a cup format for you, but there is a place for everyone to leave messages, etc.
Thundering Herd of Buffalo in the china shop... The name comes from a friend that used to make fun of my love of the D2 North Dakota State Bison by referring to them as the above. ("Fargo FC" and "Thundering Herd" were taken - Fargoans representing for MLS!) Little did I realize I have to type it in every time I go there...crap. We play our home games on the FARGODOME turf in rustic Fargo, ND. 17,000 crazies stomping on the floor!!! Go Herd.
Will there be a Cup format or a head-to-head league among teams in our division? I'd like to be in for either or both. BTW, 29 weeks in the MLS season.
Yeah, and 33 transfers, including the ability to (in my best Spoon voice) "Sack the manager!" I checked out the schedule and saw that there are at least four games in every week except the very first game which was special enough to get its own week. What this all means is that its going to rely more on a persons players and less on their ability to keep up with the league and make sure their players teams are playing since most teams play every week and very few play twice in a week. So, I'm going on a limb and predicting a very close league this year from top to bottom.
yeah, probably 6 or 7 weeks into the season, we'll start the WizMFLS cup. It just has to be completed in time for the winner to compete in the CupWinnersCup, ran by Preston McMurray. Ben, last year was a super tough year for MFLS. It may be even harder this year. Other than LA, I really have no idea how the teams will do this year. I do really like the manager transfer. (only because three years ago, when I finished ninth in the league, I had Rongen as my manager. If I would have had Gansler or Bradley, I would have won the whole thing.)
Has anyone ever had a true fantasy league like in the Football setup where you take 8 guys and draft players, i.e. no one can have the same players, then play head to head in a league format? Just an idea. I have thought about trying to get one going with using one of the Fantasy leagues for doing the scoring. Just an idea to throw out.
