Well, past results show that besides Brazil, Argentina, and refs, we own south american teams!!! Ha ha

93' lost to Argentina in final.
95' lost to USA in quarters (not a south american team).
97' to Bolivia (complete robo.. shame on the ref)
    99' to Brazil in semis
01' to Colombia in final (i admit Colombia beat us straight, even tho they were at home).
04' to Brazil ( no comments on that one ).

So please, stop hating on the mexican team because you all know that we are there not only to play but to compete for the cup. If you wanna make excuses as to why south american (except Bra and Arg) teams can't beat us at their own cup, go ahead, be creative.

Chile va a probar el chile nacional.:)

No but seriousluy, I think this is the group of death.
Chile has a good creative player (Fernandez) and the best striker in SA right now (Suazo) but IMO they need to adress the defense because I have seen Chilean clubs that don't defend pretty well (remember the Sudamericana final?).

Mexico is lacking in quality strikers right now because I don't think other players have been given a chance. Players from the domestic league deserve an opportunity so Borguetti needs to understand that it's about time to call it quits. But the good news is that the defense is very solid (Marquez, Salcido, Osorio) when compared to the other teams in the group.

Ecuador has a solid team and it seems like all the players know each other because most of them came out of the same 3 teams in Ecuador. And right now there's a handful of Ecuadorian players abroad so they'll be able to bring the experience they have gained.

It is rumored that Brazil is going to bring an olympic team because they want to give these players experience so that they can get their hands on the only cup they haven't won. But I doubt they'll want to take that risk after the not-so-good WC they just had.

I agree about the group of death.

But we aren't worry about our defense: no colocolinos in the NT defense.
Pablo Contreras (Celta), Jorge Vargas (Salzburg), Rafael Olarra (Maccabi), Waldo Ponce (Univ.de Chile), Sebastián Roco (Wanderers) and 1 or 2 others will be in Venezuela.
Sadly Luis Fuentes (Cobreloa) resigned to the NT, he was the better player in the NT during WC' Qualif, and top-scorer being líbero.

The problem is in the attack: Suazo, Navia, Monje are "racheros".

I'd still say that Mexico has a slightly better defense than we do. Our midfield obliterate theirs, in my opinion... and they have as many problems on the offense as we do.

I think the forces are pretty even. Mexico is in the middle of a generational change while we seem to have gone though stage already. Interesting group to see the least.

I have never talked smack about Mexico: in fact, my respect for your NT (and league) has grown even more after moving to the States. However, people like you sometimes make me question that respect (based on such senseless, pointless rants about how you think everyone's hating your NT).

No me interesa hacer amigos.
