I just did a little research and I found that a Mexican club has never lost a match to an Ecuadorian one. Liga eliminated América in the last Libertadores tournament but didn't actually defeat them in either of the two matches, only advancing via the away-goals rule. Their best single result has been a LDUQ draw versus América at the Azteca, other than that it's been wins in Mexico and draws or wins in Ecuador for our clubs.
Watching Arsenal-Liverpool, it's amazing how much money is on the field yet how little quality there is on the field. Liverpool is like the black hole of soccer. Sucks the life out of the match. It's like watching u-8s play with all the mindless kicking and chasing of the ball. Arsenal has had to play down to Liverpools quality, or lack of.
little quality? It isnt a match to remember, but I wouldn't say it was of very little quality. You got 90 minutes of football. Fast paced, both teams applying pressure, and leaving very few spaces open.
watching the Arsenal Liverpool match, it made me think of a comment that Beenhaker said years ago about the atmosphere at pitch level in Mexico. he said that there were entirely TOO many people around the pitch that had nothing to do with the match. When you look at a more professional product, like the Premiership, La Liga, you see what he is talking about. You have select press members, a few ball boys, security, stadium officials, and the teams.
I would not buy that Liverpool team if it was offered to me for 10 grand. Not worth the money from what they show on the field year in and year out.
It's only under Benitez that Liverpool has played dull football. Under Houllier there wasn't as much money to buy players nor was there any chance at winning titles, but the team played exciting football.
