They didn’t look too rough vs the Brazil teams in the CWC tbh. I'll be curious to see the over all level after this many years out, on the one hand the Brazil teams have looked very average at times (the Pachuca match, cruz Azul could have beaten flamengo last year if not for the stupid coaching change), but then they'll beat PSG, go into penalties with other euro teams, dominate the libertadores. if they've been able to do that looking average, what does that say about these teams that don't even come close to challenging them? maybe the over all level has dropped with the increased amounts of globalization which now includes Saudi teams, euro teams outside the big five leagues etc. all signs point to it happening with the new tv deal, I just don't know how it's going to work logistically with the the current schedules. maybe they're finally going to scrap that pile of garbage leagues cup but even then it runs alongside the CCL. would hate to see a libertadores return with ********ing Santos and atlas or something
He’ll even santos and Atlas were putting big fights back in the day. Losing pro/reg has really impacted the quality of the lower table teams.
true, I remember those times. but I also remember one of the best Americas of this century getting romped in Colombia, losing to a nobody Argentine team etc. this things happen edit: I'm remembering the Colombia game incorrectly
Still got that 4-1 against Atletico Nacional on DVD somewhere. Velez had their best two games in their history in the next stage though.
Was this the season Carrillo was on a roll after lapuente was out with health issues where they halted his process when lapuente returned?
