wild that Almada lead the youngest average Liga mx squad to beat the Brazilian/libertadores champs like this and with Chaka ********ing Rodriguez none the less. though things are looking better with Aguirre/marquez I just can't believe he wasn't given an opportunity to rebuild the national team

 

also sucked that Conmebol refused to alternate hosting duties for this match, seeing the stadium so empty with no passion sucks. these games would have been so much better hosted across the continent

A lot of Southies call the Mexican league complete shit, and have selective amnesia and conveniently dismiss that Mexican teams were consistently competitive in their tournaments for like 15+ years. Botafogo were crowned like 2 weeks ago too, if I’m not mistaking.

Yeah, I actually recall seeing argies call our league amateur when rondon helped Pachuca win the title because he failed at river, now they’ve been romped by these same Brazilian teams Rondon just helped beat for over half a decade and I’m sure Monterrey will do the same next year

now that there’s a legit club World Cup coming starting next year with 32 teams this ‘intercontinental cup’ will replace that one, but drawing off the old competition between conmebol- UEFA. Instead of a draw style like the last almost 20 years it’ll feature a set playoff between CONCACAF - Conmebol, AFC vs CAF, and the winner of these games playing the uefa winner who is automatically in the final
