Anyone watch the draw? Why was group B ‘reserved’ for Seattle? Seemed odd edit: nvm, said it was a host country thing
What a waste sending Meón there. Hopefully Demichelis won’t go full Caca Martino and tank the game against River. Argies are goofy like that. My predictions: Palmeiras Porto Atletico Botafogo Bayern Benfica Chelsea Flamengo Milan River Borussia Fluminense Man City Juventus Real Madrid Pachucasa
Nah, Ahly is usually always good. Aucklad city would have been the easiest team, then probably the Koreans. They won’t win a game in this group
I think Monterrey and Pachuca will go through, especially if Pachuca strengthens their squad (have heard rumors of a few Brazilian signings). Leon going to embarrass the league as always, Seattle is going to get romped too
Boring, I know, but... Porto Palmeiras Atlético Madrid PSG Bayern Munich Benfica Chelsea Flamengo Inter Milan Monterrey Borussia Dortmund Fluminense Juventus Manchester City Real Madrid RB Salzburg
This new CL format has for the top teams the unfortunate result, that they can't relax going into a match. Every goal counts. In the old groups set up it was like which of the two top teams comes out as nr 1 and which one as number two. Most of the times the last 2 matches didnot matter anymore, so you could throw in a reserve team. Now you have to make sure you're one of the top 8 to qualify directly for the KO stage. Given at least 12, maybe even 14 to 16 are good enough to challenge for the 8 direct spots and probably several will end up with the same number of points, even every goal scored counts. If you don't make it in the direct 8, you come into the play off stage and have to battle it out with the other 15 clubs for the last 8 KO spots. That means you get into serious trouble and alot of spent energy to make it or not. So from the old system relaxing after 4 matches, you now even as a top team can't take a break in any of the 8 matches you have to play. You have to perform, until you're points gathered can't be matched by a club below the 8th spot anymore.
if the Mexican teams especially Pachuca and Monterrey open their wallets a little more they can assemble teams that will put up a fight. also people are really sleeping on Al-ahly. MLS fans are going to get a real reality check, if they can't even fully compete in Concacaf idk what makes them think they will fare better at the CWC. the only way i see it is if MLS opens their wallet and stacks these teams.
FC Messi loses all games without help. Knowing Infantino’s FIFA, they’ll give them two penalties a game and a red card for the opposing side.
Still not enough... you all saw the Monterrey game in Concacaf too, right? Miami might even end up a worse host than Qatar in '22 Oh, speaking of Monterrey: so they get to stay in LA through the whole group stage. Not bad... and I can't wait for Pollo Vignolo and co. to cry about it.
