98 WCQ at Azteca in '97. 0-0 draw. Actually, the next year we tied them again at Azteca in regular time in the SF of the Confed Cup, but were beaten 1-0 in extra time. So if you're talking about regulation, then we tied them twice in 3 years, both times at Azteca.
ok, I forgot about that. I guess I should have looked at this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico–United_States_soccer_rivalry BTW I see at the bottom that the off year Gold Cup are not recognized as official by FIFA. Does that mean players are not cap tied to a country if they play in 2013?
FYI they mentioned that around 70k were sold as of yesterday and they just said on espn radio that there are tons off people at the box office outside the stadium buying tickets. They expect it to be close to full
Dude, come on. Take off your earthquake cap and realize that he has never been a good player. Just an MLS journeyman that is having his best season.
I hear they are having some type of recognition for the Olympic team at halftime, so maybe that is the reason it will sell out.
I saw it mentioned somewhere that he was suspended and thats the main reason why he was added to the roster. Its nice that he is having his best season yet, but he is not going to even turn into a Wondo type MLS journeyman who becomes a prolific goal scorer in the MLS. He has gotten plenty of chances, he just never has been good enough. I would hate for him to make the game day squad today for someone like Boyd who actually has a legit future with the USA to miss out on an opportunity to play in the Azteca.
Gordon is gonna surprise everybody and make the 18. I was joking about him scoring early but I'm serious now. Klinsmann is gonna make yet another questionable decision. I can see it happening.
I don't see this as a joke; Wondo starts up top! He has earned his opportunity, this match is only an exhibition. Now if we can just get the ball to him in the final third ...
Howard is the CAPT! Howard, Beckerman, Edu, Williams, Jones, Donovan, Herculez, and I think Castillo are starting. EDIT: http://lockerz.com/s/234984221
They do not seem to have the physicality and athleticism (e.g speed) of the bigger "elite" teams. I think they can match the technical proficiency of all the SOuth American teams but my impression is teams like the USA, European, Brazil have bigger, faster (if not necessarily technically proficient) teams.
so im guessing it's going to be: -----------------Gomez---------------- Castillo--------------------------Donovan ---------Jones-----------Williams-------- ----------------Beckerman---------------- Johnson---Edu-----Cameron---Orozco -----------------Howard-----------------
