The #USMNT roster vs. Mexico could be MLS-heavy, a rarity under coach Klinsmann: http://es.pn/NjQqRq (Insider)

    Steven Goff@SoccerInsider
#usmnt travel roster for Mexico friendly will probably include 23 players. Of those, five won't be in uniform. Six subs are allowed.

    Anyone have ESPN insider?

The ESPN insider article is just speculation by the writer about MLS players and then talks about the numbers of non MLS call ups.

Shea will sneak his way onto this roster, I can almost guarantee it.

It really is a ridiculous time to have a friendly.

    I'm sure that:

    A) MLS clubs don't want to be losing their best players in the playoff push.

    B) Euro clubs don't want their players leaving right as preparations for the season are in in their final push.

It's no surprise that this will be an MLS-heavy roster. After seeing who Mexico is bringing, I'm a bit concerned about the result......................

We may see some newbies among the 5 players not in uniform. Why not give some youngsters a taste of the Azteca environment without being in uniform?

If it's entirely MLS based, sure why not. After Donovan and possibly Demerit he'd be one of the most experienced players on the team.

Shea some how getting into this camp may actually be the most beneficial thing for him. It would probably be a nice little confidence boost, allow him to train at a slightly higher level, with a coach who believes in his talent to the fullest. It COULD and stress could turn his season around.

He played mediocre in MLS starting in August of last year and then sort of collapse mentally about April. Threw a ball at a ref got suspended. Bitched out his coach after getting subbed and got suspended. It's been a cascade of things.

From what I have seen he is an attacking mid that strays wide. Sometimes Donovan goes to the middle so they can flip-flop. Also Bease likes to go to the right so they can all be the crazy switching attackers. That is our secret weapon for success.

Whatever you do- plan to use all 6 subs. Have those subbed out absolutely lay guts on the line.
I would consider telling those players in advance how long they will be on pitch in advance so that they can bust it the entire time vs. saving energy. Mexico is tricky in that way- you can't run apesh*t from opening whistle if you think you are going 90...but if you know you are only going 50-55 minutes...well then you can lay it all out there.

Consider having some attack come from a wingback (or 2) that you will sub out.....to give some variety to attack for a change. Sub out a couple midfielders who are killing themselves. Sub on a forward unless we are way ahead (fat chance) etc.

Beasley would be a great 30-40 minute guy, for example.

With 6 subs, we should design a much more attack friendly game plan

I wouldn't count on Beasely getting called up...he wasn't called up for the 5 game tournament.

Boca, Edu, Cameron, Dempsey, and Altidore(?) probably won't be called in for this friendly. We may lose out on the German's as well. Is Mexico bringing any big names to this game?

I think this might be a great time to bring in Lichaj and Ream back into the fold. Still I could see them passing on this as well.

    Good luck, Klinsi.

GOD help us if it is an entirely MLS based. We need players that have at least played there before. If you have too many newbies, they will try to impress JK which is great, but will only last you 30 mins in Mexico DF. Once they start coughing out Tar, Mexico will slaughter us. I hope we go 1st team despite start of season in Europe.
