Re: MEXICO vs Uruguay pre-game Anyone know where I can find live audio stream from this game on the net?
Re: MEXICO vs Uruguay pre-game Univision! As for the game, the Uruguayans are going to get their greedy a@@es kicked. They don't even want to be there and Forlan is OVER-RATED! Vamos a Ganar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: MEXICO vs Uruguay pre-game I would like to see Pity in there in a 5-3-2 lineup with Morales/Valdez, ala Roberto Carlos and Cafu. Leave Osorio, Rafa, and Dulio in the middle. Also have Lozano, Israel, and Torrado in the mid and have Arellano/Paco and Jared up top. Chava doesn't convince me at all and I would hate to see Paco play out of position.
Re: MEXICO vs Uruguay pre-game Fabián Carini goalkeeper of uruguay is out injured.
Davino I have been a fan of Davino throughout his career, supported him most of the time except during superclasicos, but I have to say something. In his younger days Davino was rock solid-- didn't do anything spectacular just defended consistently and solidly. Very dependable. But around about the time the Rafa Marquez came on the scene Davino's play started to suffer. It originally cost him his place on the Seleccion, especially after that Honduras game, and as a result he missed out on WC2002. Lavolpe has seen fit to bring him back, but it has to be said he has a lot of mental lapses. I think he is trying to be too much like Marquez. He is trying to play like him. But the prob is that Davino does not have the ball skills, or passing skills of Marquez, he cannot dribble or trick his way out of his own area!!! (early on vs Uruguay) He made a few other errors which may not have seemed too bad but then later he was at "fault" on both of Uruguay's goals. Neither was a HUGE mistake, but he definately could've defended them better. These may have been a result of his trying to emulate Rafa's seemingly lazy easy style (how he always looks like he half-asleep, like he's playing vs a U-12 team and barely has to try, you guys know what I mean). Davino cannot do this either, he is having too many mental lapses. Just play like you used to Davino, keep concentrated the whole game, don't try to be clever or dribble, or pretend to look like you're having a walk in the park---just defend solidly, leave the other stuff up to other players!
Re: Davino Let me be the first to predict right here in this thread that IT'S ALL OVER FOR MEXICO! yup you read it here first, Mexico will not get out of the group stage. You are probably all saying im crazy, but let me remind you that I was the first to say that America were dead after they lost to sao caetano in the away leg (I said this right after the game) and I also said Santos was dead when they lost at home. Even though everyone said America would score 2 or 3 goals against Sao Caetano in the return leg I was the only one to say they would get knocked out of Copa Libertadores. Mexico can't beat Argentina, has not beaten Argentina for over 13 years. If Mexico doesn't win against Argentina it is over (and it will be) sorry folks.
Some player ratings Oswaldo Sanchez 7 -Played well overall, not tons to do, but he made a great foot save on Richard Morales' effort. Although he could've done better with the 1st Uruguay gol, beaten easily near post... Ricardo Osorio 8.5 -My rating has nothing to do with his goal. He played very well all night. Only had a few small mistakes if I remember correctly. Was well positioned always, defended very well, closed down his man fast most times (which is more than can be said for some of the other defenders). And provided good support for the attack. Plus this kid is a superb athelete, even though he may not look like it upon first glance, -> fast and didn't tire even though he ran all game. Davino 5 -see my last post. Marquez 7 -Played basically in midfield most of the match and played well. Some nice touches like usual. Composed play like usual. Efficient tackles like normal, except for the card. Good passing, and one good shot, although off target. Good job Rafa. Carmona 6.5 -Not that much to report here. He was very solid defensively. He joined the attack well enough, although like normal he doesn't have enough technique to do great things when he attacks. Yes Pity is way better of an attacker but Carmona is better defensivley so I wouldn't be suprised to see him start against 5 goal Argentina. (they could both play I guess though) Oteo 6 -Defended reasonably well. He played hard and with lots of entrega. Has a good "engine." He can play at this level just not really well. He's average. I'd like to see better players on El Tri. Where is Magic Mendoza? Raul Salinas? Others? If Lavolpe can take a chance on Oteo, why not on them? Lozano 7 -Played well enough, solid back and forth player who provides balance to the team. In truth I was hoping for more from Lozano today. He was okay, but hopefuly will be better next game. Valdez 6 -Played okay. Not much to say he was his normal -pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary- self. Pardo 7.5 -Well I have to eat a little humble pie here. I really ripped on him before the tourney started but am not his biggest fan still. His goal was great (one of his few strengths imho), well struck, he also had a good shot in the 1st half which could've resulted in a gol by Paco. Other than that though he played well in the middle of the field. Playing simple passes but doing it well, providing a good rythm, and a good outlet for the defence. Having said that, he still is really f-ing slow and against faster more dynamic teams like Argentina he may lose possesion a lot and the midfield play will pass him by. He won't get as much time and it may not be pretty. Palencia 6 -He was doing some good stuff the first 20 minutes of the game. After that though he was mostly dead weight. His high level of technique (imho) is not with him at the moment. He is back to his sh!tty level like he was during the WC2002. I agree he hasn't been all that good since 2001 Libertadores heroics. I don't know why he dropped form so much. Borgetti 5 -Too slow, can't jump high, not mobile. In short he added very little to team. I was amazed (but glad) that Lavolpe took him off though, as he always seems to have him go 90 minutes. Bautista 6 -For the people who don't like Bofo and rip him for missing that breakaway (which I agree I'm not happy either) think about this. Considering we didn't bring Kikin Fonseca to this tourney, who else would you rather have play upfront, Borgetti??? I can tell you Borgetti would not have even been able to get to the penalty area before being dispossed due to his utter lack of speed. He wouldn't have even been able to shoot, ON or OFF target. At least Bofo was able to run on to the ball advance into the area and make an good try at it. Pity Atlamirano -No rating from me didn't play long enough. Arellano -Even in the short time he had he showed some good things. Good touches and a little injection of pace and dynamic play. Needs to start next time.
