Pulido and Henry were absolutely useless in this tournament. They need to go. Retirement mode Chicharito would have been a vastly better choice than those dudes. Vela with a bum knee would have been a better choice than Antuna too.
They don't have to be in the small box to attack them. Tala attacks the shit out of air balls. I've seen it his entire career.
We all have seen his entire career... he is a good keeper, but common both of those crosses were not floaters, they were nice crosses, Talavera would not have made a difference. Not saying Talavera is not a good keeper...he is, but come one now..
"Mckanye" dropped a header up your culo. Coulda had 2-3 more if not for the post and Ochoa and won player of the tournament. Mexico is a walking L with the delusional fanbase in the world.
1st finals win since 2007 and wasn't even the better team on the field and that was without our best player and you talk big. Lmfao you're a clown
Walking L ? Hey nerd y'all failed to beat Trinidad & Tobago for a Russia ticket + Honduras schooled your hyped u-23's.
Delusional fanbase he says. Coming from the fanbase that claims the US has a top 3 midfield in the world lmao.
ROFL, he spelled United States wrong... In reality, were it not for Mexico's poor finishing, they should easily have won. Even with Chaka's brainfarts... Hopefully Rulas can recover his old form but after a head injury like that, who knows...
The worst part about that was that T&T squad that beat the US wasn't even a fully professional team in that call-up...
Can one of you tell me how is it that Lainez and Corona scored only two goals between them in their club seasons? Either we (the US) suck and made them look unplayable or they were underused by their club team managers?
Not sure who is defending our performance in the last wc qualifying cycle but it was a horror show from start (losing to you guys in Columbus) to finish (losing to a bunch of second rate players in T and T doing their side hustle).
Corona is often played as a Winger or Wingback and helps create more goals than he scores... Lainez is young, had to adjust to a new league and then lost time to injury and Covid-19.
Kid should be on the radar of some much bigger clubs if they know what they’re doing. Barca need some quality this summer.
Lainez is kept on a short leash at Betis is asked to do a lot of tracking back to help out the defense, I watch most of his highlight of his games, he rarely ever has the ball while in the box in a good scoring position. Corona was the league's MVP last season, the season before it was some guy named Bruno Fernandes. He's not a striker, football is not all about scoring goals. Lainez has bulked up a bit, his decision-making is vastly improved and appears to be getting better by the week... I think he'll see more minutes and will be given a longer leash next year. Hopefully.
I don't think it's Corona or Lainez that the US should be worrying about. Those two can make a lot of players look bad. More worrying is that two Liga MX fullbacks in poor form did fine keeping their wingers in check and a slow-ish midfield of Herrera and Charly did well vs their midfield. I guess it's true that a win masks all sorts of sins but this seems especially applicable to the US fanbase, who despite their team barely scraping together a victory at home after a soft penalty goal and a penalty miss from Guardado, are over the moon with their imminent domination narratives.
Not to worry, the US won by SET PIECES. We scored ACTUAL goals. We scored the real way, they scored by free opportunities. We created our goals, there’s were basically given to them.
I do think they should worry about their back line , though. Even Antuna, an inconsistent Liga MX player, beat them all game long. The things Chuky did to Brooks in a position he’s not familiar with… Also, they were lucky their starting GK was injured. He’s been bad at Man City and didn’t look great vs. us. The dude that came in played great.
I don’t know man, the way he cut the angle on chucky’s 1v1 was pretty good. He was also solid on corners, I didn’t see anything in him to think he wasn’t doing well. If anything the backup keeper could have done better on the lainez goal, but made up for it several times after. It may have been just that he is weak getting low vs the highlight reel shots he stopped being more mid range. Still think it was a mistake to take out corona, I think they were playing much more scared as a whole when he was on and I would have liked to see him test the backup too
