I posted this in the Mexico -V- South Africa thread but it's not getting much attention there and this is a much more appropriate thread to put this in so anywayz... Here are the second round game matchups: A1 B2 B1 3A or C C1 3A or B C2 A2 So the only way Mexico can meet with the U.S. in the quarterfinals is if USA gets first (obviously will) and Mexico and a team from USA's same group both qualify as third place. I'm pretty sure Mexico will make it to the next round, if not, I think we're getting a new coach guys! Scenarios: 1. If Mexico gets first place, they play a third place team from either Group A or Group B. We cannot play a team from our same group in the quarter finals. 2. If Mexico gets second place, they play the second place team from Group A (Colombia, Panama, Honduras, TyT). 3. If Mexico gets third place and beats the other two third placed teams, we will either play first place of Group A or Group B (USA), depending on if our group gets a third place qualifier. (e.g. if our group and either Group A or B get third place qualifiers, we play the OTHER groups third place. If both Group A & B get third place qualifiers, then we are obviously OUT!)
Re: Mexico -V- Guatemala Even though they had they're B or C team there, I thought Africa played decently and did what they wanted to do. They didn't look like crap when they had the ball and their defending was ok too. Guatemala on the other hand has a crap defense and we should score plenty on them. I'd be extremely shocked and unhappy if we lost this one.

Re: Mexico -V- Guatemala No Maza, Chiquis or Israel, I pray to god!!!! I thought Maza was just as bad as those two defensively. The guy cant defend 1 on 1s and he loses his mark too much. Guatemala must be shivering right now, they are going to face a Mexican team who just got humiliated (only rivaled by losing the the US in the WC 3 years ago). I expect a big win by Mexico, 3 or 4 goals. The problem with dumbass LaVolpe is that he brought only 3 true backs (Maza, Salcido and Osorio), the others play more in the midfield (Mendez and Pineda). The other mistake the dumbass made is that the midfield he called is garbage. If you take out Chiquis and Israel (which we all hope he does), this just leaves, along with Perez or Zinha (our two solid midfielders), Ismael Rodriguez, Galindo, Morales and Altamirano. I, personally, did not like how Altamirano played AT ALL (not a problem, Mendez can take his spot and do a good job). But unfortunately that would leave the remaining 2 midfield positions to players that have very little experience for El Tri and on other occasions would never start together. However, my hopefull lineup: Ochoa Osorio Salcido Pineda Mendez L. Perez Zinha Galindo Morales Bravo J.P. Rodriguez Now to a more realistic lineup: Munoz Osorio Maza Salcido Pineda Mendez Isreal Lopez (yea it sucks, but i have a hunch that LaVolpe will play him) Galindo Zinha Perez Bravo Borgetti
