Eventually in the future, Gio
IMO brasil had the that game on lock down pretty much the entire time. Mexico had a few chances, it's only first real one resulted in a goal. Other then that brasil dominated the first half. It's not that mexico played bad, but brasil actually did a decent job.
I'm sorry guys, I didnt see that this thread was in the Mexico's discussion group, I was wondering why people were only discussing the mexico players. Never mind what I said.
I really think giving up a goal prior to the half ending was a big blow to Mexico. Losing a lead one minute after its attained is pretty demoralizing, and i would imagine its moreso against a team of Brazils calibre. Overall though, i think Mexico played well with Marquez's error being the play that turned the game in Brazils favor. The third goal was just the result of Mexico attempting to push forward and equalize. Against Brazil, Mexico is past the point of hoping to hang with them. That goal was achieved a while ago. This was a game where they took advantage of Mexicos mistakes and won. It happens. Mexico will get them next time.
just to point out some stuff from the older thread.
1 - why the hell people say "they are not brazilians, they are WHITE"? Since when is white a nationality. Its a race, and there are MANY MANY whites in Brazil, including millions of german descendants (blond and blue eyed) as well as BLACKS, ASIANS (São Paulo city has more than 2 million japanese descendants) and mestizos. Lucas Leiva, Falcão, Zico, Diego... are them not white?
2 - Boston has the biggest concentration of brazilians in the US, most of them from Minas Gerais state, in special, the city of Governador Valadares. So people saying most of the brazilian fans were gringos and central americans are wrong
3 - proof of that is that the brazilian national anthem was sung by a large part of the stadium, as well as the traditional brazilian supporter song "eeeeeu, sou brasileeeeeiro, com muito orguuuulho, no coraçãããããooo". No american or central american would sing such songs.
since when that is enough to be #1 in the world? The nation ranking is based on points accumulated from several years. Brazil was so far ahead that even Italy winning the World Cup and getting tons of points, it still wasnt enough to surpass Brazil.
Winning the Copa America and these last friendlies (including several friendlies soon after Dunga took the job) also helped keeping our advantage.
Brasil could be talent-wise the best team in the world but bottom line: Italy are the world champs and the whole fifa rankings system is a load of crap.
They've had Mexico and the USA as high as 4th place. We're good but not that good and deifinitely not the gringos either. Other stupid rankings: Croatia 6th, Bosnia-Herzegovina 25th, Northern Ireland 27th, and believe it or not, but Cuba if you check the rankings history was ranked 46th in the world in December 2006 ahead of Costa Rica, Honduras, Peru, Venezuela, T&T, Panama, Belgium, Korea, Japan, Norway, and Ireland. Are you convinced now how pointless those rankings are?
Since when were the Coca Cola rankings taken seriously?
Brazil has the most talent
No one would argue with that.
But Italy won the title
I'm sure most Brazilians would gladly be ranked number two in exchange for winning the world cup last year.
Argentina was ranked number 1 in March of this year. I'm sure they could also care less because they haven't won anything in like a decade.
Remember to stay on topic. Who cares about Fifa rankings, WC rankings, brazilian national anthem, or white boys in the stands.
take that garbage to another thread.
The way the team played in the first half was great. Salcido and Guardado held down the left flank effectively..Torrado played alot better than Correa this time round, Arce played an important role on the right..he defended well and made some good plays..Magallon was on point and so was Rafa until that little hiccup at the end, you could tell he wanted to clear the ball he just didnt measure it right. Castro could have done better, thier were a couple plays where he got owned. Cacho had a solid game, he fought for the ball and held possesion pretty well in some plays. The gol was a thing of beauty, all orchestrated by Guardado who becaomes a beast when he puts on the national team jersey.
Nery pissed me off yesterday. He had so many opportunities to make some counterattacks grow but he would make the wrong decision at the end...their was one in particular where Memo cleared the ball up the field..it gets to Nery, Guardado was WIDE freaking open on the left and instead of passing it up the field to him but he says nah ill make the play myself, and loses the ball right after. Dont get me wrong, Nery is an incredible player that needs to be on the team, but he really needs to learn how to make that extra pass for the good of the squad..when he finally masters this he will be more of a complete player. Hugo took to long on the subs, and after he makes them he puts Gio where Vela should be and Vela where Gio should be. So you had Vela fighting for balls with his back to the gol on the left and Gio waiting for some action up front. Im sorry but Hugo is not gonna get the Gio from Barca that we all love to watch playing him in that position. Overall i was pleased with the team in the first half i think thats what Hugo is shooting for as far as having a "team identity". Brasil was too much in the second..and Memo and Guardado were the MOTM for Mexico..
I know its nothing to be proud of about since we always lose, but its nice to know that Mexico can hang with Argentina and Brasil. Two of the best teams in the world. I cant wait till we get over the hump.
We need a Ronaldinho on Mexico. Somone to contribute the ball to the strikers. Our midfielders are basically defenders. No ball control no passing except for Guardado. Man that kid can play... and he will only grow as he gains more experience in spain.
Mexico always makes some stupid mistakes that cost them close games. When we play error free ball we either win or give the opposing team a hell of a match.
let me quote myself.
Maybe that wouldnt be a bad idea. Perhaps a more expirienced Mosqueda or a mature Hobbit Bermudez ?
I'll agree with most of that except for 2 things.
The first being the fact that the 2nd Brazilian goal was not entirely Rafas fault. He had to rush out of his position to try to catch up to an unmarked Kaka. That should have been taken care of, by placing Magallon there or even Rafa. But Kaka was completely unmarked, Marquez was just doing double duty.
I also think that although Arce was letting himself get pushed around a lot he did play pretty well.
Overall I was impressed with: Ochoa, Marquez, Magallon, Torrado, and Guardado.
Disappointed with: Nery
Hugos doing great, should have handed him the team a few months before Germany, we probably would have won more than one game with him in charge
Nery said he didnt play well because la cancha was messed up. Then how did these other players impress on the same field.
Rafa had a poor game IMO, I don't care what Hugo said. He made a ton of shit passes, and made to many errors. He's my favorite player but him showing up last minute to integrate himself with the team may have been a faactor.
I'll say again, Arce was not that good. The problem with having Correa and Torrado means that our only good way to get the ball to our forwards is using Arce and Guardado. Guardado did his part, Arce didn't.
I'm really hating this 4-4-2. All the wealth of talent we have upfront, just so that they are forced to play in positions that are not natural for them. The 4-4-2 is good with the starting line-up, but I think it's wrong for Gio. Gio will soon be our best player, I think it would benefit us we played him on the right with Vela being the CF. Nery likes the left, everyone is happy.
Playing Gio in mid will be a mistake too because he doesn't need to be defending. The boy needs to be able to concentrate on the offensive side of things. Damn it Hugo, fire the che and don't be so rigid with your formations.
Nery didnt play well because he refused to pass the ball. On one of the few occasions where he did we ended up scoring.
Yes the game was only a friendly and Mexico finds a way to lose every single game but in these friendlies there needs to be more substitutions to get some more guys an opportunity. Hugo Sanchez hasnt done anything to really get me excited. He is basically coaching Lavolpe's team with a messed up formation. The european 4-4-2 is not gonna work here because we need to use our explosiveness and speed that we have with, Salcido, Osorio, Dos Santos, Vela, Nery, Guardado those players can run and with this organized play of 4-4-2 there isnt enough creativity. Lavolpe was the best coach we ever had despite the curse against Argentina. I am not here to praise Lavolpe but I followed his regime quite well and if you take a good look at it Hugo is just using the same players that Lavolpe actually developed at a young age. I think the problem with Hugo is that he thinks if he picks the greatest players that he will win the games and that is not goin to work. He totally ignores Zinha who was Mexico's best player in 2006 world cup if I dont recall. He totally ignores Bravo who is the first mexican goleador in a long long long time. I am the same age as Gio Dos Santos and Vela and the whole golden era but they can't all play at the international level just yet. Teams will eat us alive if we go out there with Chucho's team. I think Gio Dos Santos is the best player Mexico will ever have but he needs a little more time to develop with Barca and he will be ready for the world cup but in the case of Vela we already found Nery and we do have Bravo waiting. Cacho is not that good. Yea he does play for one of the best teams in the world Pachuca but there has to be a reason why he has never been called up before in Lavolpe Era. I think Bravo and Nery should work together and get Gio involved more and that could be our trio up top.
no me chille
I would keep callin Gio and Vela on future Fifa dates and hold off on Nery. Let Nery regain his Copa America form with his club and let the other 2 gain experience playin with each other on the senior team. I think Hugo needs to switch things up a bit by playin those 2 with Cacho, and let them get used to playin with Guardado more.
With Landin comin in vs Brazil, I think its obvious that Hugo has him in future plans, possibly for the Olympics. He seemed a bit slow out there the few minutes he played.
That has to be the worst analysis i have ever read...
I'm not even going to waste my time ....
Not to be a douche, but i hate how Mexico hasnt imporved. It still the same team. Our offense is building but we have no body in the midfield. Im so glad Guardado is maturing into a great midfielder. But we need one on the right. Vendado has the speed but lacked the skill. If only Torrado had quality passing and vision we would create more chances. Arce is an average player but still lose's the ball to easy. Brasil looked confident and prepared last night. I cant recall a mistake they made, thats Jogo Bonito. Man those guys can play with their eyes closed.
Mexico hung with brasil in the first half it was pretty even. Mexicos goal was a beauty thats what happends when mexico plays thier game. We have the talent, they just need one more player in the midfield then we would be closer to being a complete team.
The future looks bright....
Hey Giovanni07, who was right?
It was dissapointing because we deserved more.(not a win but at least a draw), when they score its like they think they've won mentality, and who is the one that prepares the team physically, technically, and mentally?...HUGOL
Hugo is not a world-class coach he never is-was-or ever will be. He lacks tactical smarts,Ego-maniac, and can't prepare us for dead ball situations.
Time for him to step aside and let Chu-cho take over in 08'
The Chucho Ramirez whose team played terrible in the u20 World Cup? Dont let the success in Peru of 2005 blind you to how utterly terrible they were two years later. Ramirez is not a better coach than Sanchez is.
