Please, we got comprehensively beat by a team that played more inspired, smarter, physically better (speed + heart + winning 1v1s) + better tactics.

There is nothing more to say except get rid of the damn empty bucket for god sakes.

If the US would be offensive...they would have lost 4-1 imo. Mid-field has always been the key. Possession...once again they couldn;t hold the ball enuff.

did you even watch the confederations cup? Donovan is not miscast as a winger, in my opinion he's actually right in the mold of the modern wing. Messi, Ronaldo, et al. They are wing/forward hybrids. Their speed is best used on the outside where they can actually run at people.

You mean when we caved in the final, that great showing? Or the great final in the gold cup?

Losing to your biggest rival hurts, but Mexico as a team is just as good as us, and they are playing at home in a stadium where they beat teams better than us on a fairly regular basis. We have to play perfectly to stand a chance of winning there and it didn't happen.

    Dempsey was a no show.

I can't recall a shot on goal in the 2nd half. Can you?

Still lost the game that mattered.
...for defending a 2-0 lead....

I hate "let's bunker and see what happens" football.

We deserved to lose this one. The midfield doesn't know how to play soccer. Michael Bradley has got to go. He is a terrible defender and he's not much better at offense. Clark isn't much better. It seems like the midfield doesn't quite know what to do. Donovan is the exception. Dempsey was non-existent. Davies, Onyewu, and Donovan were the only players out there that played well. Spector should have been out there. Demerit is just a slide tackle thug.

And just like that we're staring at 4th place and the playoff vs COMMEBOL. :(
Tough game, plenty of blame to go around but bottom line we went into hibernation after the Davies goal. When is the last time we made defensive sub?

In this game, yes he did. Empty bucket was the wrong call. He failed to adequately adjust when it was clear it couldn't work. What is the explanation for the entire team being unwilling to hold possession for any length of time? Its speculation, but I strongly suggest the game plan was to look for a break at every opportunity vs. playing for possession and stroking ball around (working it up). Soak up the pressue and hope for a couterattack.

Well, Mexico are not Brazil or Spain in class...but we made them look so with these tactics.

    Nice name calling, btw, classy...!

Whats with the fire Bradley comments? You got to the final of the Confed Cup and Gold Cup, and will still surely reach the World Cup Finals with games against weaker El Salvador and T&T to come.

I don't really follow US football, but some of these comments are absurd.

I haven't looked, but I'm sure the Fire BB thread is up and running once more.

We'll never win the possession game with Bradley Jr. and Rico Clark starting.

Yup Center midfiled was the weakness that caused the 1st goal. Just like in the Italy game.

It was simple, the Azteca virgins with the exception of Howard and Davies were tentative, and the veterans played with confidence.

Next cycle this entire lineup will be back, and maybe with a full week to pre[are at altitude.
