That's what I have been saying. He is an "accidental' Mexican by birth only because his father was working there at the time, but he grew up and considers himself Uruguayan

I have seen Nery play. But there is no chance that he is going to take Totti's spot.

Yeah I remember reading the article too, it said that Juve was very interested in getting Nery. At the time Nery was playing pretty good for Olympiakos, this is when he scored that goal against Galatasaray in Champions League, but after that he went into a slump and then Juve went for Ibrahimovic.
Who cares about this fool, if he really considered himself Mexican he would have come when he was called, and also in the Olympiakos and Uefa site he's listed as Uruguayan, so that shows that he prefers Uruguay over Mexico.
    Screw him.

its because hes using a uruguyan passport, since he did live in Uruguay

weve discussed this before, lets drop it, when nery does play for mexico and starts doing good, everyone is going to forget "he was a dick" and praise his ass

nery never directly declined playing for mexico, he just didnt show up, yes it a bit the same

but he did directly say no to the president of Uruguays federation de futbol

Still though, that's disrespecting the country by deciding not to show up.
If you don't show up for a date, what do u call that?

the thing with Nery Castillo is that his family moved to Mexico from Uruguay, and he was born there, and when he was a lil older than 4yrs they moved back to Uruguay, and from there went to Olympiakos... he cannot play for Uruguay anymore because he decided to play for Mexico... but the thing is that when La Volpe wanted him, he only wanted him for the Sub-23 and Nery wanted to play in the big NT..... and since then La Volpe has not touched this player.....

He is not capped to either Mexico or Uruguay. He can still play for either one.

FUkc him though. Until he suits up in green let's forget about this guy.

I went to the Olympiakos site...he has been riding the bench, he came on in the 88 minute in the last game. I don't care if it is europe, that isn't national team material.

I wouldn't be surprised if that idiot is waiting to see if either Mexico or Uruguay or both qualify for the world cup to choose which team to play for. If he does suddenly say he wants to play for mexico after we qualify, I say he can fu*k off

That's what I thought. That's the reason him and his father wanted him to play in Italy (so I read, somewhere) since he would be comunitario (is that the word?)

I read somewhere that it was suspected that his dad was pulling all the strings here.

Its possible that his dad and Nery have different ideas as to who he'd play for internationally. When Lavolpe called him the guy was what 17 or 18? Very well could be his dad being overbearing.

So maybe Nery wants to play for Mexio and his dad has so far nixed the idea.

 We don't know since the guy is silent about it all and seemingly cloistered up over at Olympiakos.
