MlS front office is so out of touch with the latino fans that they think that by bringing in th Mex, we are going to come out by the masses???... When in fact, latin americans do not like mexs at all. They are so wrong by thinking if they bring them in we will come by the masses. They are soo wrong... we spent about $4500 at the home depot last year, season tix an all. Guess what? We are latinos, not mex, but if the mexs come in, they will not get another DOLLAR from us..... They are soo out of touch.....
eacorletto First off what part of Latin America are you from ? Im guessing Central America.. And second you really think the South Americans dont like watching their National Team players in the MFL? You think Televisa doesnt know how to sell their product to Latin Americans or Vergara to Mexicans.
From which part of the US are you from? I'm guessing Orange County. Nice try trying to mimic Spanish grammar by saying "the masses", but I'm not buying it. Your other posts are written in standard English instead of your embarassing attempt to copy Spanglish grammar. Pathetic what the anti-Chivistas will do. How many times are people pretending to be latinos going to try to tell us that latinos won't respond to Chivas?
Dude, why are you always so scared when someone says the word 'Chivas-USA' in the MLS forum and then start begging again for moderators to move it where it will be hidden???????????????????????????? ( do you like all the question marks as you always do) Please re-read the original post. The poster's theme is about being a season-ticket Quake fan and a long-time MLS fan, he's proposing he will not give another Dollar to the MLS if Chivas-USA comes in. Its not only about expansion. First you create a thread by titling it "dumb posters" and then try to justify it, and now a third post where you freak-out when someone doesn't agree with Chivas-USA. Come on now. Please.
well one of the reasons moderators merge threads is when people start repeating the same tired points, over and over. This goes for both sides of any debate. Anyway, you lose a dramatic amount of credibility if you believe that the "theme" of the original post was more about seasonticket holding rather than expansion.
Listen Paulson. First of all, it seems to have been the original poster's first thread. I myself joined BigSoccer just a few days ago. I now enjoy talking on many forums, especially 'UK'. Do you know what brought me here?? The fact that I was in disagreement with Chivas-USA and I wanted to voice my opinion to a large media of soccer fans, mainly MLS fans. I registered then read a bit around the forums and then proceeded to write my first post in this forum about how I don't agree with Chivas-USA. Guess what my first reply was? The same exact thing as in this thread and by the same person, UCLACarlos. I didn't even know there was another forum specifically for Chivas-USA but I still got blasted only for being a new member. Not even a "Welcome to BigSoccer..", no I got a slap in the face that my first thread should be moved to another forum (in a rude way) that is not as active as this one, upon further investigation. Chivas-USA forum averages about 3 posts per day and currently the last post was over 2 days ago. Its obvious that the first replier of my thread AND replier of this thread hopes they get sent to a forum thats all but hidden. Then I notice he writes his own thread (*in the MLS forum) saying that unsupporters of Chivas-USA are "dumb posters" and "stupid" and then tries to justify the comments. So I don't need you or him to tell me that our stuff should be moved. Obviously, I know the reason for merging threads by admin. Duh. But before you state the obvious and look silly make sure you know a little about the past.
Maybe if new threads were developed in the context of what's already been said, more ppl would respond to a forum that is NOT hidden. Maybe if something original were to be pointed out, ppl would respond more. Maybe ppl are sick of reading about the issue and tired of pointing out the obvious to ppl who have limited reading comprehension abilities. Trust me, if there were something interesting to discuss, that new thread would be one of the most popular on BS. MiamiAce: "First you create a thread by titling it "dumb posters" and then try to justify it." Sorry you have such limited reading skills that even though you TRIED, you couldn't understand the first, 2nd, 3rd message that I wrote, plus all the others that pointed out what I said.
I'm Latino. I like Mexicans. I know a lot of Latinos that do. I don't think the goal is that by bringing in Mexicans that Latinos will follow. Part of the project is to bring in Mexican fans, which would be a huge source of revenue. More $$ brought in, more $$ available to buy and keep top talent. THIS will bring in more fans from every creed and race. What Chivas/CA absolutely offer is some hostility towards these teams from Mexican fans of rival clubs plus Central Americans. So ppl will come to root vs. them. Is that bad?
Re: Re: mexican teams in MLS?????? First of all, you need to take some proper English classes. It might turn out to be a great investment. Secondly, due to the fact that you can not express yourself very well in English, I will have to assume that you asked the following question in your own messed up way. Is it bad if rival fans of club Chivas in Mexico attend Chivas-USA games for the reason of rooting against them as they would back home?.....ummmmmm, OF COURSE IT IS! If a fan's motive for attending an MLS game is based on reasons from another league with different teams, then where does that leave the MLS and its story? MLS could quicky become something else in its entirety. Perhaps even become a giant extension of the Mexican soccer league in the long run. And thus it will not be easily indentifiable to the average American sports fan. Its not just a Mexican thing as you might assume, its a nationality concept. If Barcelona or Manchester or Stuttgart would stamp their name on one of our teams, I'd still be very upset. We shouldn't have to rely on another league's "brand names" to support our very own.
So tell me oh Mighty Grammar God, where exactly are these errors of grammar? How is it that I butcher the English language? (This from someone who thankfully incarnated the theme of the last thread I started. It helped prove my point.) I'll address your other meanderings at a later time. I've got a life to get back to. Whoops, I ended a sentence w/ a preposition. Is that too informal of a register for you Miamiace?
Re: Re: mexican teams in MLS?????? I don't think I want to know. I have no clue what you're trying to say. I could only guess.

Then go back to 8th grade and work on sentence diagrams. Another clue: when you see a post by me, click on uclacarlos and you'll find a brief biography. Seriously, don't try to take me on when it comes to anything cerebral. Gosh, I was kinda hoping you would so something interesting, such as my usage of prepositions, as that is the one area where my English needs work. I was going to quiz you to see just how brilliant you are. a quick history: Spanish first language until age 6 when we moved here, both parents are fluent in French, I learned Catalan b/c I'm from Barcelona (from a Leones family). Now, which language most contaminates my preposition usage in English? And name at least 2 studies that would confirm that. Or, what African language group contaminates my usage of possessive adjectives: Niger-Delta or Congolese? I'll be waiting for your answer. BTW: "I like Mexicans" = a simplistic notion that contradicts sweeping generalizations. Of course, that might be lost on ppl who have no capacity for understanding nuances and that not everything is black and white: Pretty much labels all Latinos as manipulative. (whoops, oh Grammar God, I used a sentence fragment. Or is it? If you can cogently assess whether or not the above is a sentence fragment, kudos, I will apology for labeling you as a short yellow bus student.)
QQ Yes you do. It's not because your're a newby. I'm against newby-bashing. Instead, it's because you're thick. You said: Instead of complaining about ooklacarlos's English, why don't you instead try to justify the steaming pile of crap that is the above statement? The guy says he'll cancel his season tickets if there's Chivas USA expansion. Would you classify that, honestly, as being more about (a) Chivas USA or (b) season tickets? Listen jacknuts, you really want to talk about stating the obvious? You want to talk about not knowing the past? You haven't had ONE original point since you got on here. Do you know why that is? It could be (a) you haven't read any of the past posts or (b) you're incapable of expressing anything new. I really don't care one way or another about putting things in the correct forum, but I do care about you playing around with the facts. I suggest, if you want to see grade A advocacy against Chivas USA, that you read posts by Archer or Chowderhead (tho he's probably more on USSoccerUK now). I disagree with both of them strongly but they at least know how to argue.
Doh! Isn't there a "Federacion" or "Republica" in there as well? (Disculpe la falta de acentuacion, pese que algunos tiranos de gramatica inglesa me acusen de machacar el castellano...)
You claim to be a "professor" of some kind but yet you continue to fuss like a 12-year old, so I don't buy it. Now you claim to someone else in Spanish that I'm being an "English grammar tyrant". The only reason why I mentioned your English is poor was because I got this childish reply from you in this same thread stating that I have "limited reading and comprehension skills": https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=2029642#post2029642 So the point is, if you want to joke about my intelligence, then at least be a big boy to receive what you give. Drop the 'professor' act with English lessons on prepositions and what not, and get back to the issue of Chivas-USA. In my opinion, Chivas-USA could weaken and bog down the MLS from any real development within the majority of the United States.
Mexican teams invading MLS is a bad idea. Why?, cause the majority of MLS fans don't like Mexicans. Not on a prejudice level, but on a soccer level. Our rival is Mexico. Mexico's rival is USA. Mexicans dont like Americans, Americans don't like Mexicans. WHY IN GOD'S GREEN EARTH WOULD YOU MIX THEM!?!?! Mexican soccer isn't even the most popular brand of soccer in America. I say if you want to tap into the Mexican fan base, do it with players, NOT TEAMS! Oh right, they tried that with oh whats his face down in LA. I guess they'll never learn.
And you base this on what ratings? Try comparing Spanish language broadcast t.v. ratings (Univision, Telemundo or even Telefutura) vs. any EPL or Champions Cup matches on any cable network. MFL dwarfs the competition. Even a hypothetical ManU vs. Arsenal on ABC would get slaughtered in a ratings comparison vs. any MFL fixture on Univision. There are 22 million Mexicans living in the US. There aren't 22 million Euro snobs. Case closed.
