I will be in Seattle. That's my excuse. If I were not going to be in Seatle, I would find another excuse. I'd like to see us win at least ONE game before the year is out. Why can't we play the NY Power?
Oh man, this is better than the playoffs!!! Not. I'm quite sure I won't have anything else to do, so I'll go just to chant at the 397 Hatians in attendence, but this could be exceedingly lame. We played the worst footie in MLS over the last 2 months, now we are taking a month off to get out of shape, and playing again. Bring your video cameras folks, this is sure to be Soccer Gold.
There is no reason to go to this match. None. Anyone going to this match is sending the message to Metro that they are pleased with the state of the team, they enjoy watching meaningless friendlies which have no competitive context whatsoever and that they enjoy doing so at a crap ground that for a small segment of their fans is just slightly more convenient to reach than Giants Stadium. Just... Even to think of such a match simply in the pure terms of a game of soccer to be enjoyed is laughable. Haiti are quite good, especially for a bunch of poor bastards who are more often than not locked out of their own confederation's competitions because they aren't Mexico or the U.S. But Metro are a rotten side. Even to think of such a match simply in the pure terms of Metro needing their loyal support is laughable. See first paragraph. Such a match would hold more interest for me if it was played behind closed doors strictly as a training exercise, but to think that Metro could feel that this is some kind of entertainment or bonus for their fans is pretty silly. Let's all form a circle, join hands and pray that this bad joke is just a rumour and that the real business of setting right the abysmal state of this team is already well under way.
That's simply untrue. You are the reason. This is such nonsense. Do the players' contracts even require them to show for an event like this? Risking injury in preseason tuneup games comes with the turf, but this?
Obviously someone didn't read the fine print. This is a Double header at Mitchell Field. First match is the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup. USA Vs Mexico, then it's Metro Vs Haiti. So there you have it folks. Metro Vs Haiti is the 2nd match after the USA defeat the Mexican girls.
I might go see the USWNT game since I haven't seen them play in person since the 1999 WWC at Giants Stadium. If it was just the Metros, I wouldn't spend my hard earned money to watch this crap. Besides the fact that the current team is garbage, the starters are probably going to be Klinger, Alvarez, some guys from MetroStars Black and some guys they scouted at a pick-up game. I'm sure fans won't mind missing the Giants & Jets on a Sunday to see the Metros play powerhouse Haiti.
Well, there you go, then. Thank goodness that this is not Metro's idea of an international friendly. Who knows, maybe they'll learn a few lessons from getting stuffed by Haiti. If they haven't learned those same lessons from getting stuffed by everyone else in the league over the last six months, though, it's doubtful that they'll get it now...
I'd rather see Metro v Hati then the Women's national team play- and I don't want to see Metro v Hati. Looks like it will be watching the G-Men.
What's that, like the fifth monthly installment from your Gloryhole Series??? Ooooh, thank you mailman, I swear I don;t know what's in this brown paper bag........ Give yourself a gratutuitous wraparound you greedy bastard.
The tool box is showing Jet games. The Blue Oyster only shows Columbus Crew games. That McBride is sooo dreammy.
Don't show up too early... There is no USWNT match before the Metro/Haiti game at Mitchel...US Soccer lists Women's Gold Cup sites as Fullerton, Pasadena and Seattle. http://www.ussoccer.com/events/default.sps
At this point, I'd just like to invoke the classic words of bigsoccer poster MetroTV... whatever... Just get this friggin ship back on course...
