    From MLSnet:
"Here are my picks for the weekend. Dallas 2, Los Angeles 1…Columbus 2, MetroStars 2…Kansas City 3, D.C. United 1…Colorado 1, San Jose 0…Chicago 0, New England 0."

    http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/firstXI0408.html

I agree. I think both the Crew and MetroStars will have a tight battle for 1st in the East, so 2:2 will be a reasonable score.

    Columbus: Buddle 28', 46', McBride '63
    MetroStars: Magee 42', Clark '68

Sorry, but I don't see the team coming together enough this soon in the season to pull off the win. DiGi is rusty; Guevara is unlikely (and at best won't have any familiarity with the team); Mathis is still recovering. Bright spots: Magee, Moreno, Clark, Pope, Jolley and Howard.

This will be a very tough game, and I can see them tying or even losing. If Pope and Jolley are forces in the back, Williams takes command as the defensive midfielder, and both Mathis and Moreno play strong all game long, then we can win. If not...it will be a long game.

regardless of how they play, i think the game will be about 90 minutes give a few minutes here and there....

c'mon boys...its just the crew...its not like we're going up against real madrid...

all we have to do is kick some of that tire sand in the opponents eyes...

    metros 3-1

From what I saw on Saturday's game, the key will be learning to control the Crew's speed quickly. I think that if Jolley and Pope can mark Buddlee ou...

All right, I admit it. I don't know what to think. Even with a few hold overs, this is a new team. I have never seen them play. Lookin forward to it, though.

Hope they don't suck, hope they accidently offer the good beer at a Metro's game, hope it don't rain too much.

I predict there will be a lot of drunks in section 101!

As for the game, I have no idea!
I don't even know who half of the people on the team are! Who the hell is Clint Mathis?

Yeah, but they play us tough at home for some strange reason. Plus, they had an MLS game last week to get sharp (in which they should have won), whereas we looked like tools against Rochester for the better part of 45 minutes, and even after that weren't exactly AC Milan ourselves.

I'm hoping we win, obviously, but I see a 2-0 loss in our future.

But at least we look more like them this season, with our new jerseys.

You mean, the team that has beaten the Metros the last 5 times they've come to Giants Stadium? The Metros haven't won at home against Columbus since March 28, 1999. (Though, oddly enough, we seem to get the better of them more often than not on the road.)

    statistics, shmatistics....

all that means is that is more likely that this stat will be broken.... do you think we'll never win at home against the crew...

for gods sake, we have fieldturf now!!

new jerseys, new goals, and most importantly, a new tradition....

which is an oxymoron in and of itself....

all i'm saying is even if one were to say the crew is a better team, that same friggin idiot wouldn't say that they were that much better.....so on any given day, depending on the bounce of the ball (which is better on fieldturf)...any given team in a paritous league (is that a word?), can beat another team....

and to be honest, after the tailgate, i probably won't remember the game anyway..... :D

If the Crew play as well as they did last week, the Metros are in for a long evening....

But hopefully the Metros will get it together and win 2-1.

Buddle is too slow to get past our defence and if McBride plays the same as last week we won't have any trouble with him either. The only major threat I see is from Free-Kicks or Corners where McBride and Buddle could get their heads onto them.

He's not Beasley, but I wouldn't say Edson's got feet of clay.

after losing 6-0, i think they'll be pretty shaken up and not feeling to well, no?

i mean, six nil is a really bad confidence breaker, even if it is Morelia, Crew should've won or tied, hell, at lost lose 1 or 2-0, but 6-0?
we should have no problem taking advantage of them.

rewind that tape of his game v. LA- kid's got a great first touch, uses his size well, has good pace & stamina, passes well, and obviously has a nose for the goal- quite a package. a good season or two in mls and he'll be speaking a foreign language soon.
