Think this would ever work??? What if they lowered ticket prices from lets $18 to like $12 or $10 for the cheapest seats to raise attendance... i think it might work and i have a good example... I normally make it to every home match because i'm diehard fan... i really dont care how much the seats cost... for that last metro-fire home game i had asked a few friends if they wanted to join me as i always do but almost always they turn me down and then give me a lame excuse... the day before the game i ran into a Metro fan at work who noticed me wearing my Guevara shirt... he asked me if i wanted to buy the 5 tickets he had the he couldn't use for some reason or another... he would sell them to me for $10 a peice... so i called all those friends who turned me down and every single one of them said they would definatly go for $10..... now thats an extra four people that went because of the price decrease... do u think if the MFO dropped prices and advertised such low prices...that the extra attendance would make up for the lower ticket cost........ just an idea
I was responding to the statement that the Metros tickets were almost as expensive as the other sports. There are always always discounts going on, so you should be able to bring your family http://www.metrostars.com/Merchant2...ROD&Store_Code=MetroStars&Product_Code=TIX026 This year 4 tickets for $59 equals $15 per ticket even at a $2 increase it's still only $17 per.
The venue is leased by Metro however the major profit is generated by the concession stands and parking fees. All the set up, clean up fees are charged back to the leasee. That's just the point of view of the stadium. So if Metro actually owned a stadium, and ran the concessions and parking they'd have a lot more income to consider. Of course you want to make a profit with the tickets, but concessions and parking are a no brainer. Whatever show /game is on, you can count on X dollars per car coming in. If you really wanted to protest then organize a concession stand ban. That'd hit the venue in the pocket, the only place that counts. For me it's still a good deal, especially with the early buy for parking passes. The part of the whole deal that really gets me is how the venue exploits security issues to increase concession stand sales. I appreciate the "new security" as much as the next guy and I truly understand that times have changed, but I used to be able to being in a sandwich and soda, sit back and watch the practice while I ate. Now the audience is protected from my baloney, ham & cheese with mayo sandwich and I'm suppossed to look at four dollar pretzels! Hey charge whatever you want for that crap, just let me bring my sandwich back in. That truly is capitalizing on 9/11 fears to make a buck and I find distasteful, immoral and actually ineffective. Hoagies, submarines, & club sandwiches are not WMS they're just sandwiches and if you want folks to take a bite first, ok fine we'll do it. I hardly think keeping a bag of Dispy Doodles out of the stadium really protects anybody.
This is one reason why we don't watch practice anymore. We either tailgate and grill or buy a sandwich at the deli and we sit out in the parking lot and eat.
