the pitch will likely be crap. the 10 day forecast shows a wintry mix or rain each day this week. ugh.
Eddie Pope Says the turf remains firm when wet. He's been practicing on it with the rest of the team. But after a week of snow and drizzle we will know for sure how good this stuff is.
i would love to make it out to this game DJHANGTHE.......dads having surgery on the 11th. I'll be watching the game on Sat from my parents. MAKE US ALL PROUD!!
Game's on ABC-6 in Columbus. Dwight Burgess and Bill McDermott calling the game. Jim Henderson calling it on Eagle 1039 and internet. If you're out of the ABC-6 range, you should be able to get it on shootout from the FSNY feed. Dish and InDemand may have the WSYX-6 feed (as in "regardless of the originating network"), but I doubt it. For review: DIRECTV - Includes but is not limited to all regional broadcasts on major networks (e.g. MSG, Comcast, FOX Sports Net) Dish Network - Includes all regional broadcasts (regardless of the originating network) iN DEMAND - Where available. Includes all regional broadcasts (regardless of the originating network)
Isn't McDermott the guy that insisted on calling Washington, Wrshnton? It made me grind my teeth in agony every time I heard it. I wonder if that guy grew up in Appalachia. As for the game: Starting Lineup: -------------Busch------------ Hejduk--Clark--Dunseth--Torres ------------Oughton----------- West-------Martino------Garcia -----Cunningham--McBride----- I think Paule won't be available for this game with the knock he got and West should be coming back. Mais could be there as well or he could be in the center instead of Oughton. I think Cunningham and McBride will be in there because Andrulis will use Cunningham and Buddle in the CCC match, giving McBride a rest. This will give Buddle some rest and he can come in as a late sub. Do it like volleyball, rotate. Crew win 3-0 with 2 goals from McBride and 1 from Garcia. McBride always does really good against the Metros.
It has nothing to do with growing up in Appalachia. Many people nationwide, for some unknown reason, pronounce Washington as "Warshintin"
If there is anything to salvage from playing at the swamp, atleast there are no NFL markings on it yet. I'm pretty sure I read that in Jeff Bradley's new column. BTW, when players play on field turf, or at Naperville, are they required to play with "turf" or "indoor soccer" shoes? Methinks that since the opposing team is forcing them to play on this, they should by the team's shoes. But hey, that's in a perfect world. Also, I would rather see Buddle start against the Metros alongside McBride (who would take a rest during the CCC game). I like the thought of Oughton starting, too.

MLSnet.com says: 7. Speaking of FieldTurf, the new surface at Giants Stadium got decent reviews after a few practice sessions and one match, though installers have said it will take a while for the field to "settle." For those unfamiliar with the surface, the "base" is made up of a mixture of ground-up rubber and sand. On Sunday (Metros exhibition), you could see this black cloud of rubber following the ball around the field. Both Metros and Rhinos seemed to have difficulty striking the ball cleanly when attempting long passes and shots. For now, the roll of the ball appears to be true, if a bit on the slow side. The consensus among Metros is that it will be an improvement on the shoddy grass field they’ve played on the last few years. One positive about the new field is that it’s clean and green, and - for now - there’s not a single American Football marking or logo. That, in itself, is a nice improvement.
I was reading on the Metros board and saw one of the funniest posts I've ever seen on BS. Had to repost it here. Now I don't know which is funnier, the Cunningham slight or that he actually thinks the Metros with that weak ass midfield and forward group is going to score on the Crew.
That's because he keeps falling down and losing the ball. If he corrects that problem, he should be at 54-58% possession easily.
