The MetroStars have announced that the champions of the New Jersey Soccer Association's (NJSA) Champions League Divisions will meet in the Chivas Regal Cup Final at Giants Stadium on June 21 - immediately following the MetroStars match against Los Angeles. The MetroStars Reserve Team, MetroStars Black, compete in the Regional Division of the Champions League. "We are very excited to host this event as part of a doubleheader with the MetroStars vs. LA Galaxy," said MetroStars president and general manager Nick Sakiewicz. "This event is a great example of soccer entities working together to benefit each other, and creating a very unique promotional opportunity for a our partner." "We are very excited to be able to play this cup final at Giants Stadium," said Pasquale Varsallona, commissioner of the Champions League. "Playing at this famous stadium is a thrill for anyone. Thanks to Chivas Regal's support this event should be a memorable day for all the players within the Champions League, not just those participating in the final game." NJSA governs all adult soccer in the state of New Jersey hosting and staging tournaments and events for more than 4,000 adult players. The Champions League represents the highest level of adult competition in the region and features 18 teams - some with strong soccer traditions, such as Vistula Garfield, and new rising powers such as Tatry Slovakia and the White Eagles.
