The Mets aren't leaving anytime soon....and nyc isn't getting an expansion team anytime soon... If the Mets do leave in 5-10 years, it will be to a new facility which they'll build (city wont help) next door and likely have to demolish shea for parking...
Shea has been used for soccer before - it's not ideal, but might have been an option if Metros had reached playoffs.
Won't work Unfortunately, Shea can no longer be configured for football/soccer, at least not in a timely manner. Rennovations several years ago locked the moveable stands into the baseball configuration. Soccer exhibitions have been played in the outfield, but it makes for less than optimal viewing.
