Was wondering since the Metros were runners up in the Open Cup do we get to play in any CONCACAF Tournments? I Know SJ and Chicago are in the Champions Cup, but I was wondering if CONCACAF was running any other cups this year
At this stage I'd settle for a coffee cup. Runner up in the OC means one thing: we came up short. Let's win something, then worry about TFC championships, cups, and merit badges.
The Atalantic cup isn't good enough for you?[/sarcasm] Last year the CONCAF Champions cup included the MLS Cup Champs, MLS Cup Runner Ups, Open Cup Champs, and Supporters Shield Winners. Since Shitcago fits into 3 of these categories, it's possible that Metros may be involved very soon.
According to what I've seen, the two spots went to the MLS Cup and Supporter's Shield winners. So it's quite possible that even if the Metros won the Open Cup they wouldn't be in the CCC this year.
I don't care what cup they are playing in the Mickey Mouse Club Cup or the Atlantic Cup as long as they are playing we should support them. I don't think we are the ManUre yet and not care about certain cups all cups should be fought to be won. I just noticed that only 2 clubs when in the Champions League so was wondering if the other 2 where to be invited to another CONCACAF cup, but I can't seem to keep track of all the CONCACAF Cups, one year the Cup winners Cup is played the next year is not then the Giant Cup is played then the Countries that started with United cup is played, just wondering if anyone that works at the meadowlands that posts on these boards has any inside information.
Tutto, welcome to BigSoccer. Currently the CONCACAF Champions Cup is the only club competition that CONCACAF produces. A few years ago, Chuck Blazer came up with a slew of club cups for the region, but with the small travel budgets of the Caribbean teams and the indifference of the Mexican league, they never got off the ground. This year's CCC is half the size of last year's, which is why there are only two US-based teams in the competition.
