Metrostars and Burn bid for ex-Maritimo star MLS HEADQUARTERS - The New York-New Jersey Metrostars and the Dallas Burn have confirmed they are very interested in acquiring the services of former Maritimo star Tony Frias III. The midfielder was placed on waivers by the New England Revolution, where he played for three seasons. The Metros and Burn are looking to build new soccer-specific stadiums in the near future. "We believe that TF3 could be an important addition for the direction that this club is hoping to make," Metros GM Nick Sakiewicz said from a vacant lot in Union City, New Jersey. Dallas official Andy Swift was swift to confirm the rumour and his club's hopes to beat their Big Apple rivals to the ex-Portuguese League star. "TF3 would raise our cotton pickin' club profile way beyond the high school field level, even though there are some big high school fields 'round these parts," said Swift. MLS boss Don Garber is pleased that TF3 will not be looking to move overseas. "MLS plans to add new teams and new soccer stadiums over the next decade. We believe that TF3 has is going to have a long and prosperous career in MLS," said Garber. TF3 says that he just wants to go somewhere where he'll get a real chance to showcase his stuff.
