Metro press release: http://www.metrofanatic.com/mf/story.jsp?ID=1238 Or on MLSnet: http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/met0508loan.html
great news! we have room for one SI, no? now we get depth....me have a feeling we be good dis yeer. visa's need to be processed....expect them here for the mls cup.
Good news. Even if these guys don't work out, it's good that we're creating this relationship with Boca.
any word on which 2 players are gone in order to make room for these 2? i heard someone mention Lisi, i really hope not....he has some nice skill onthe ball....defensive liability....but a good player for depth & he had a good game back against Colorado after his injury. Moore is probably a numbers game victim.....also Addo if i had to guess.
i belive we don't have to release anyone. The rosters have been expanded and this two are what MLS calls transitional internationals, they are on loan from Boca.
No, Metro roster is at 24 (18 + 6 DPs) right now, so we'll have to drop 2 full-roster players with the Boca guys coming. DPs are: Magee, Clark, LeBlanc, Gaven, Matteo, Nugent.
i got mine in a few days, but then again, i have pretty good credit.... (i'm killing myself over here....don't forget to tip your waiters)
Argentinians Finally Signed by Metros! They're officially signed; at least one of these guys is a sure starter but they're both expected to contribute significantly. I'm dying to see these boys playing here. Visa workpaper should take about two weeks! METRO CHAMPIONS
Well, who's in danger? I think Moore's at the top of the list, and can't imagine him not being one of the guys to get cut. Lisi, IMHO, played himself into a spot last week. He's not good enough to lead the attack, but he showed he's damn good at supporting the attack, and when you've got a limited amount of forward-thinking midfielders, two of whom (Guevara, Mathis) will be gone at the same time, you don't just dump your depth. Bradley subbed Regan for Guevara last weekend, which tells me TR is ahead of Moore and Arena in the midfield depth chart - and doubles as cover in the back - and is probably safe. When Arena came into the squad I remember speculation that he would be a developmental player, but obviously that's not the case. That said, he's supposed to be a hard worker, a great presense, and a kid with a future in the center of the defense rather than midfield. So he's an asset - but he's cuttable. Another rookie defender - Glowienka - is buried as well. He's an outside defender, and currently (Forchetti included) we've got five guys we can play out there, one of whom is hurt - but that's still good cover, especially for the modified 4-4-2 we play. So he's probably more cuttable than Arena. Addo is the third buried defender. He's a seasoned pro who's been through the wars and didn't embarrass himself last year. A good locker-room guy, holds a green card, and can play in the midfield in a pinch. That said: he makes twice as much as the other two guys. So I'm guessing he gets the boot.
Let me guess... I think Addo and Moore (remember he's Zambrano's boy) are leaving. But again...it's just a guess, let's see who gets the AX
Did we watch the same team last year? I recall him embarrassing himself horribly a few times including a rediculous red card tackle from behind that was completely unnecessarily. But then again, he's in Miracle of Castel di Sangro, so he must be a keeper.
FWIW, I don't mean this as a knock on either guy, as they're both good pros. Moore, in particular, I would expect to see back in teh league (and probably starting) after the first round of expansion.
I sincerely apologize for offending you. But I have not disgraced myself. We are talking about the improvement of MLS. This can only help. (I hope you don't think we should set them aflame the way Hugo Ibarra was during Torneo de Verano 2003. Remember that?!!)
Well, that particular play was certainly embarrassing. But on the whole, I don't think Addo was a bad guy to have as the fourth defender. Regardless of your opinion of Serie B, the guy's been around - Champions League, Olympics, African Nations Cup - and he's worth having just to put him in the locker room. Bradley as much as said so back at the ESC meeting in February. I'm in no rush to cut him or anybody else on this team, as I think we've got a good group. That said - somebody's gots to go.
Glad they've been signed. Regardless of whether they start or not, the bench just got deeper. I just hope people don't expect these guys to come in an be key contributors right away. Though I'm sure they'll acquit themselves well. Nice to see the "partnership" with Boca bearing fruit so quickly. Hopefully the Metros can send Magee and some others down their in the off-season to training.
