The biggest problem the Metros have not and has had since the first season is that they never have had a true central playmaking midfielder. Until the metros aquire a true playmaker they will continue to be an average team. I am not convinced that if the Metros get Vaca that this problem will be solved, and Williams is also not the answer. I hope that the allocation can help; however looking back at history of the metros allocation, I find it hard to believe.

I hope that Balboa can contribute this year, if the Metros have any doubt then I would try to package Balboa and the and the allocation for a quality playmaker. However, I having a hard time coming up with a name of a quality central midfielder in MLS right now.

Amdy Williams is our playmaker. His 13 assists were among tops in the MLS. Vaca is a pipe dream at this point. Balboa? we simply don't need him. We have Joe Addo to backup at central defense and we have way to many defensive midfielders. The only way I'd keep Balboa is if he agree's to a contract less than Addo's. Simply put between Joe Addo and Balboa whom ever is cheapest keep.

I can't understand why some fans are so egarly willing to ship away Andy Williams! I was very impressed w/ him last year. Andy gave us 110% in effort and fed many quality assists. Plus Andy is close to getting a green card. I agree keep Vaca in Dallas,

Basically, if you keep Andy Williams and his well over six-figure salary, you eliminate the chance to bring in a good allocation. Because at this point, there is not room for two well over six-figure players on the Metro roster. We're upgrading folks.

And, have you ever thought, if Andy Williams was even half as good as you all say, Metro'd be able to make a nice trade for a decent MLS player, maybe a right back? Can't do it. No one wants him until his salary comes way, way down.

He's bound for Charleston or Rochester.

Andy Williams gave 110% effort??? We are referring to the soccer player and not the lounge singer, right? Seriously, I'm content if Andy stays. He will certainly contribute. However, there were far too many times that he was just strolling around to say that he gives 110%. The only one that gave 110% on this team last year was Faria, and he's not here anymore.

I'm also not all about the Andy Williams bashing. He controlled the ball very well and is a lot better here than he was in Miami and New England. The guy can make plays. 13 assists.

    Here's my question:
If he was making say 75K a year, we everyone still be bashing him?

On that same note, Colorado has had Valdarama forever. How have they been doing?

    - I highly doubt that Andy Williams is making "well over six-figures." I keep reading and hearing that be makes about $110k.

    - Andy Williams is a capable playmaker. However, somebody needs to finish the play for it to be successful. We will have more quality up front, and hopefully Bradley will sort out the other midfield positions too. Williams will spark the play, and this year, we'll have someone to finish it.

    - Secondly, Williams-haters are completely exaggerating the whole "midfield general" thing in MLS. KC and San Jose come to mind, of course. Los Angeles had good midfielders (Cienfuegos, Vagenas, etc) but no one "general." We don't need a "midfield general," we need quality at all positions as well as depth.

I'm all for loving Andy Williams.

But he's gone, so you're gonna have to love him from afar.

$110 K is over six figures if my math is correct. And for a player of his worth- that is way too much. Hence we can never trade him. Think Charlie Ward on the Knicks.

Williams has never proven himself as a playmaker. When was that happening? Did I miss it? Can you tell me when and where?

Secondly if Cienfuegos isn't/ wasn't the Midfield General for the Gals then I am not sure I understand your analogy. Sure not everyone needs a Super Stud #10, but we have no one, and that includes Williams that has any distribution skills from Midfield. We never have- Donadoni was a great distributor but we played him out of position because we had no one else. Andy was/ is a somewhat selfish player- he has shown it on every team he has played on. Williams is not the answer. Expecially at his cost to the cap.

AW was a lot better player last year than Clint for the Metros so i also don't get the ant- Andy Williams talk on these boards. You would think he was Billy Walsh re-incarnated.

You're talking about teams which play in Major League Soccer. Not Europe, Argentina, or Mexico. Powerful leagues would not be so forgiving.

isnt richie makeing the same cash? why arent you guys bashing him? think back to our prior FA's. do you think anyone one of our past midfielder FA's are better than andy williams? (except donadoni)

its too risky to mess around with fa's, plus they'll cost us the same amount of money if not more to bring to the US

Our FA's stunk. And Williams is not so much better, and in today's MLS he makes too much and does too little. Especially when we can replace his secondary assists with 2 or 3 bodies that can than produce just as much as him and have a deeper roster at the same time. Not to mention not taking up an FA slot.

We have the other Williams because he was a throwaway in the deal with DC. We have no choice. I am sure his salary will be renegotiated.

Well, Billy agreed to play for the minimum for Metro. If Andy agrees to that, I'm sure he'll stay around.

Look, it's not about hating him. It's about the fact that Bradley is going to try and upgrade, and can't afford an allocation and AW.

Thank you! The man's an embarrassment. Will MLS please cut the uniform off of him and send him home. He's just doing it for an easy buck. They recently unveiled a statue of him back in Colombia. I'll bet it moves more than he does.

Well donadoni was here with the Metrostars, and he was as good as a 10 as we could get. I don't see a cup as a result.

The problem faults in the fact that there is no accountability in the organization.
